Tissot T-Touch - sensors repair without spare parts - challenge :]

  • I bought a broken Tissot t-touch. This watch has several features, like an altimeter, pressure sensor, and compass.
    The touch screen allows me to enable only the compass and Chrono features. It doesn't respond when I try to enable the altimeter sensor, pressure sensor, and alarm. There are also many scratches on the watch case. I will try to fix this watch without any parts. We will see how it goes.
    This approach is rather a workaround/challenge - it would be better to use new parts to minimalize the risk of failure (and do it in the professional service center). But I have some non-professional experience in watch servicing (hobby) so I have decided to do this at my risk at home.
    My blog about restoration cases: 404kwatches.bl...
    This is a watch enthusiast video with some non-professional experience in watch servicing.

    I have the same problem, but I am not a technician, so will send it to the watch specialist to get it done. At least I know the problem. Thank You Sir

    Good job in making this detailed teardown and repair, thank you for this.
    Due to this video I managed to repair my own identical T-Touch by adding tiny globs of silver-glue at spots corresponding to the 7 areas under the touchscreen where the elastomeric conductive strip makes contact. I assume that over time the elastomeric material shrinks and loses contact with the touchscreen. Thank you for making this video.
    For the record, the 7 contact areas are divided into 2 zones in the watch movement, one with 3 contacts, one with 4. From the -approx- 12 o'clock position working anti-clockwise are 1.Meteo 2.Alt 3.Centre 4.Temp 5.Chrono 6.Compass 7.Alarm.

    I admire your perseverance! I destroyed my V1 swimming in the Ocean. Tried to fix it. Failed. Then discovered the trade-in programme. And swapped it for a Touch II . (Which I don’t wear swimming anymore)

      Thank you:) I swimming with t-touch only in fresh water when my kayak capsized :P but salt water can be much more dangerous to your watch.

    My 16 year old one is working fine, but I've had to synch it a few times lately. Batteries are probably going. Regardless, always nice to see videos about this watch. I've loved it since I first got it. It looks greats and is a cool little piece. Mine is a slightly different model too. My face has numbers on it and has a titanium bracelet. Thanks for the video tutorial!!

    Hey, good job. You did exactly the right thing to effect a repair here, I emphasize "repair" and not "parts swapper" and that little sensor module is expensive. I have 3 of these T-Touch Tissots, all different models. The Mk I also has a not-working module, I did not look into it too much yet but I see on your video it is very simple. Like you, I have much experience with electronics and small fiddly things, I'll give it a try on mine.

      I don't understand how the sensors were repaired, nor does it show how to remove the scope

    • @alanmckinnon6791
      @alanmckinnon6791 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Machinesvehiclesvariouscontent The protective cover on the sensor probably perished, leaving the sensor internals open to the elements - and a tiny connector/wire had broken. He used conductive paint to fix it, it's main use is broken tracks on printed circuit boards - paint over the break to make the track ends connected again. It's quite an ingenious method actually.
      I don't know what you means by scope.

      It looks like an issue with the screen - not the sensor. The temperature sensor is a part of the pressure sensor so if there is a problem with temperature also with pressure indication.

    Hello. I have a similar model with a diffrent problem.... Maby someone can give me an idea of the solution.
    I adjust the digital time, then synchronise the hands. Everything is ok for a while(for 2-3 hours i think), but at some point the hands(the minute one) remains behind(sometimes 5-6 minutes and sometimes 15-17 minutes or even more).Then I perform a new syncronisation and we start all over again. I replaced the battery with a new one but the problem is still there.
    Can anyone help me?

    Hi, while changing the battery myself, unfortunately I touched the pressure sensor that lost its functionality (I mean: is working, but the values of pressure and altitude since then are totally wrong) there's something I can do to in order to fix it by using magnificent glass? What happened by touching it? Thanks

    • @404kWatches
      @404kWatches  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you just touched it / pressed, In my opinion, you can just wait (sometimes it could work better after some time).

    • @404kWatches
      @404kWatches  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the internal sensor is extremely fragile and theoretically could break - but then it wouldn't work at all - so just wait.

    Mate I have the pro version of the watch the pressure gel was filled with sand in my case. Used some ear sab to remove the sand but also removed the silicon. Can you please advise what silicon you used?

    • @404kWatches
      @404kWatches  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a standard transparent sanitary silicone - but be careful it's very easy to damage the sensor during application (even pressure can damage it, or brakes a very tiny connections btw sensor and circuit board). ... And you must to know that a genuine protective layer is made from some kind of gel (unknown) - so the silicone is not the best replacement but I didn't have better one.

    Great video. I have a similar watch and my crystal activation button is not the middle one is the minus button instead and the digital display is turning off from time to time making the analog hand to stop as well and resume when the digital display is turning on again. I just changed the battery a month ago. Any idea what the issue is?

    Why does your altimeter keep showing different heights?

    • @404kWatches
      @404kWatches  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My solution to this issue can have some side effects. The silicone which I used can have different physical parameters which affect the measurement. I also adjusted (in the watch settings mode) the altimeter several times to fit the local altitude above sea level which is 75-100m. I made this video in two different places so 781m was also quite accurate. Also according to the specification, this can happen even when your watch is fully functional (because the temperature fluctuation affects the altimeter)
