I totally understand the exclusivity of a Hermès bag but I love variety and personality in a bag collection. And I have to admit: the Kelly is the most perfect bag I've ever seen ❤️
As a guy that uses bags I assume I’ll be judged wherever I go but I know I’m effing amazing. And rupaul taught me that if they don’t pay ur bills, u pay them no mind.

Loved this walk down memory lane Jess. I have always admired your ability to detach yourself from your bag collection and let it change and evolve. I've been working on that! If I sold off the bulk of my luxury collection I could buy an Hermès bag too. But I'm afraid I'd have so much seller's remorse.

Hi, Jessie, please don’t let other people make you feel uncomfortable about the luxury items you enjoy. I know that’s easier said than done. I sometimes feel like that but I still wear my items and enjoy them. Folks are going to talk either way so give them a good show 😉.

Thanks for this video! For years I wasn't attracted to Hermes at all (the bag styles; also felt unreachable). Then I was introduced to the mini Evelyne. After that, I totally fell for Hermes, and now their entry bags (Evelyn, Picotin, GP) are my favorite in my collection.

Great video and insight Jess. I have mostly LV limited edition pieces in my collection and have thought of selling several of them to fund another purchase. Its a tough decision because I don’t have a glamorous job or lifestyle but I do appreciate the quality of a Hermes bag.
I am at a similar place to you in my bag collection Jess. Have sold my classic flap as it feels to showy now and only have small SLGs in LV monogram.
The quality and beauty of Hermes bags is unbeatable. I can’t go back now!

Hey Jess, I still think your green Mini Reissue is the most beautiful bag in your collection. The pink Picotin is cute but that’s only because of the colour, that colour would look good on just about any style of bag. There’s something very old world charm about that shiny bijoux chain on the emerald soft calf leather, very decadent and opulent. Plus it’s so practical to use as well. The Hermes bags just don’t evoke the same glamour and romance to me, and their closures just seem like such a faff it would drive me crazy. Just my opinion and we all have different & changing tastes. It’s fun and interesting to watch how other people evolve in their style.
Amen 🙏 sister. The most common comment that I hear is “oh I don’t see what you see” spending so much money on a bag. Yes unfortunately I have to put up with the whole footy thing as my husband is a mad Collingwood supporter. My comment back is “you do you love”and I’m happy to be the bag lady🙂❤️

totally agree with the low key factor. chanel is a very showy and flashy brand-everybody knows their chains, quilting, shapes and of course the cc logo but hermès is way more chilled when it comes to this. i personally love chanel but dont want to wear a cc bag sometimes because of that. i like bags that dont scream a label that you can wear and enjoy and not ecerybody knows what it is :)

I totally relate with you even if I consider myself a confident 48 years old lady. I can see the judgement around family specially. I’m also very conscientious about what I take for e.g. to work or traveling what is a bit annoying once I buy the bags by and for myself. Then there is the price level of course. Even if I can afford them now much better than in the past, they reached a price level that I just prefer to invest the money in something else (like a trip). Nevertheless I agree with you, the durability of the bag is very very important for me now, specially at this price levels.

I feel you, Jess and admire your collection. 🛍💖 For me, I love a variety of different styles, especially vintage Chanels. It's quite true that for Chanel vintage, I've hardly seen pristine ones or they are very much over priced by resellers. I don't really dare to bag spa my vintage bags as i feel that it will change the texture and buttery quality of the bag if done badly. That 31 yo Kelly bag was really pristine and unbelievable! 😍🤩 The quality of Hermes bags is unbelievable and i love their vibrant colors too! I love to get a Diana in my birth year. 💖👍🏻

Your collection has inspired me. Although I’m on an extended stay on ban island I’m planning for my first Hermes bag may start with Birkin or Kelly but probably picotin 22 or lindy 30. I want all the colors! Bright pinks and greens first then some neutrals … then more color! I’m obsessed

I've been collecting since my first Garden Party in Amazonia vegetal and buffalo many many moons ago, and I've never looked back in regret. Like you, I've bought and sold other luxury bags, and offloaded most of my LV bags to fund my weird and eclectic Hermès collection, some of which I never carry. I just like looking at them and knowing I have them, and that they are part of a rich heritage of craftsmanship and commitment to quality. In years to come, you will appreciate that you started collecting the pinnacle of luxury bags when you did. ❤

Omg! I’m waiting for a toolbox 20 in feu! I’m so excited! I’ve started collecting Hermes bags. I still don’t have a birkin or a Kelly tho. I have a mini Lindy, 2 bolides, a mini roulis a Constance. The craftsmanship is unparalleled.
I’m still struggling with letting my Chanel bags tho….

I use Kelly 32 Retourne, Bolide 31 & Lindy 26 almost everyday to work, Mini Kelly II to events and almost no one recognizes them as Hermes items (except some friends who also love handbags).
People only recognize the Birkins I guess.

I agree with many things you said. Particularly the been there done that with respect to Louis Vuitton brown canvas monogram bags. People outgrow things as they grow and evolve.
I love the Hermes Kelly bag too, particularly because I traveled to Monaco, where Grace Kelly was the princess of that country. It was a beautiful country, and I visited luxurious places and stayed at hotels associated with her, including the Church where Grace Kelly held her wedding and where she sleeps now, so I wanted to buy the Kelly bag which is named after her, to commemorate my memories of that trip. That's why my Kelly bag holds an even more significant meaning for me, not to mention the quality and the timeless and classic elegance.

In my 30s I was obsessed with Chanel and then I had the same ah ha moments you have experienced with Hermes and I have never looked back. Still love H over all other brands buuuuut made two small CF purchases recently due to CC releasing a pink that resembles mauve sylvester and also a red that resembles Rouge Casaque. Those two colors I was obsessed with adding to my collection so I went with CC due to FOMO in case I never got those colors offered to me by my H SA... Soooo I have mostly H bags and a few classic chanel.... oh and a LV speedy 20 (my only LV). Anyway, I def understand your philosophy babe and it makes sense especially due to not wanting to be judged carrying lux brands! xo

Ahh you’re still young and working out your style. Bags, shoes, clothes - they all get changed up often when you’re finding your way through life and its various stages. I’m sure the Hermès obsession will fall by the wayside too at some point when something else piques your interest. You’ll no doubt keep hold of the ones you truly love. 😊

Hi Jess, I can relate about the judgment feelings, I just don’t think you are being truly honest about selling all Chanel’s and LV bags for Hermes. Sorry no offense at all, at the end you do you and whatever makes you happy. I personally, love Chanel and Hermes brands for different reasons, but I wouldn’t sell any of my bags for one brand or the other. I have mix feelings listening to your reasonings sorry 😣. As per Hermes quality, I think they are many reasons why these vintage bags are still beautiful after 31 years, maybe they were hardly worn? Or maybe they were sent to Hermes spa to be restored and look great again? Any bags can look that good after 31 years of almost not used🤷🏼♀️🤭 I have seen Hermes bags that were truly loved and worn and after just a few years, they are destroyed . Hermes has a magical spa that restore the exterior of their bags to almost new. As per the mystery, IMHO I think ppl know as much as Hermes Bs and Ks as they know about Chanel or any other popular brand. Celebrities are the ones that make that happen 💯. Thanks for your comment Taty! Chanel bags are beautiful too but can not always be restored like Hermes. If you really abuse an Hermes bag it wont be necessarily be able to be repaired as-well . Overall I have experience Hermes to create much heartier bags than Chanel however I can understand your passion for Chanel as the styles and energy of the brand is very different!
She specifically said that she had a handful of Chanel bags that she is keeping. I believe 4 bags. So definitely wasn’t trying to saying she sold ALL of her Chanel bags.
