I swear, know all the words too, Kathleen Freeman is one of the most favorite character actors I've seen in the movies. That laugh of hers get me every time.
Sometimes I'll ffw to that spot where she & Garner are talking about her in the tree. She got her hair caught in the ice cream freezer! Freeman's laugh is gold!
I had the pleasure of writing James Garner a film script, when I worked in Hollywood as an actor/ screenwriter, that picks up this film 20 years later, where he comes out of retirement to clean up the town, one last time. Garner was a joy to behold, genuine, thoughtful with this wonderful way of including you in his life.. Hollywood could take a lesson.
@@ChucksterPenguin - my wife and I had a used book store in the early 90s and his brother would come in once in a while. Always liked Jack Elam. He was a great villain and even a better comedic actor.
I suspect type casting. He was never in very many dramas. Grand Prix and the Great Escape are the only ones I can remember. The rest were pretty much 1960's Rom-coms of one type or the other. He had a great on screen persona. If he was playing himself, he'd of been the type of guy you'd have wanted to know.
One of the absolute funniest old western films of all time.
Joan Hacket was incredible.
Died too young.
"It's the puberty. Hit her pretty hard."

Gets me every time too!😂 She's the greatest!

The Penguin from the Blues Brothers was her best role.

Joan Hackett was an absolute delight.
I would've loved to have seen that!!
@Susannah, Many thanks for your note. Indeed, it would have been a special film. A million best wishes.
So glad you confirmed our outsider beliefs of this wonderful man.
@Joe, Many thanks for your thoughtful comment. All best wishes.
We can’t forget Jack Elam as one of the best character actors of that time. He was great

One of the few movies I've watched more than twice. Highly recommend it to anyone unsure about it.
Loved Joan Hackett! She left us too early. 😢
I loved Joan's movies!❤
Ha!!! One of my favorite movies.
Jim Garner was the American Cary Grant. Fantastic actor in all genres. Seemed like a great guy. And took no crap from powers to be in the industry.
Joan died of cancer in her late forties. Her tombstone reads, " Shh, I'm sleeping." Charming woman in real life. Dignity and humor.
JOAN Hackett was absolutely beautiful 😍
Wonderful comedy. I first saw the movie in 1969. I always loved Joan Hackett.
I loved her in Will Penny with Charlton Heston.
This was a real nice movie! Humor from ordinary events gone awry and screwball sideways. The running joke about Australia for instance
James Garner was the definition of coolness. They truly don't make them like that anymore. Unless you want to include DeCraprio.
What’s wrong with DiCaprio? Has he done something?
I wouldn't consider "DeCraprio" cool in any way. But I do love your re-creation of his name. 😂
I don’t know why James Garner wasn’t a bigger star than he was.

I have forgotten the name of the elderly actress in the third clip. But she was a superb actress; people may remember Blazing Saddles.
Kathleen Freeman. She was also the nun in The Blues Brothers.
@@dominicbuckley8309 And she was Emil Muzz' bold landlady in "Dragnet" who was interrogated by the officers Friday and Streebeck.
Ha ha ah, I’m sorry I clicked on this and realised I got it mixed up with Blazing Saddles!
lol!
Kanes Parents and Kane remember them all and still watching this i 2023 lol 🤣 smh off
If only life was like the movies...... sigh
John Wayne ,Eat Your Heart Out , Like Hell I Will That,ll Be The Day .
Walter Brennan played quite a role in that movie. He got cocky and sassy. He was himself.
“He stuck his finger in the end of your what?”
Did they intentionally give her a lace sleeve shirt to make biscuits!?
It's a film. And a comedy, and a parody.
Yes, they did.
Best ? - they were all great . . .
