It’s disappointing that the graphics still have the same occasional flickering as Darius Plus Hucard (when not running on Supergrafx of course) even though this is a Super CD. Soundtrack sounds much better though of course, sounds like they used the CD to just rip the actual arcade music which IMO is much preferable to an arranged soundtrack.
Well, at least almost every stage has parallax scrolling (Pretty simple but still impressive for the system) Yeah, the arcade OST is better, didn't like too much the arranges they did for Super Darius II tho.
It's because they use sprites for rocks that are part of the foreground to simulate 2 layers of background as PC ENGINE only supports one background later.

The concept with aliens-sea creatures is because the original enemy from ''Space Invaders'': All aliens army, in the TAITO universe is based in ''Space Invaders''. A multiple race of sea creatures transformed because evolution in another planets and articial genemodification. This race say ''this water planet is perfect to living''. The ''Space Invaders'''s creator read the classic book ''War of the Worlds'' and imaginate the tripods and the aliens like octopus. In the Japan is very strong the octopus in colective cultura pop and folklore.
A old trivia: The pilots names (PROCO & TIAT) is a anagram to ''TAITO CORP''.

After playing G Darius for years, this looks like ATARI 2600
G Darius is honestly a downgrade in comparison to Darius Gaiden/Extra Version.
