Why re caulk it, that steel underside is just going to rust out and leak like mine! Im switching to porcelain that wont rot out

Are you spraying it with water alone or a mixture of soap ?

Question: why do you need Plumber's Putty when you're using silicone anyway?

Silicone isn't strong enough to hold the sink in place. Silicone is just to close the gap between the sink and counter and keeps water from getting underneath.

@@bryancaruso4580My cast iron sink is rusting and leaking into the natural stone, due just putting chaulk. I like the recommendation of plumbers putty - hopeful it will prevent sink/stone contact.

Thank you this answer. We had our bathroom redone 5 years ago & I’m having to re-caulk the dual sinks. They did a terrible job, starting with crooked installation (one is closer to the mirror than the other) and no putty, just gobs of silicone under the sink that is doing nothing. I can literally lift the sinks out of the counter. I appreciate your advice.

@@rohitbhatnagar7599 I have the same issue, did it work?

@@tomatden I put caulk on the bottom, not plumber putty. Your sink will always be wobbly, since plumber putty will not stick. Iron to natural stone is still there with chaulk, but far less.
