Thanks 5Piece, this is awesome information, personally I declined submitting an artist development grant based on the fact that even if I even got the $2000 grant which would help, I unfortunately would have to wait a whole year to go after a juried sound recording, which is what I relly need to launch my career, thanks again!
Totally understandable, Anthony! Regardless of which of the 2 programs you apply to, you'd ultimately have to wait the full year whether you're accepted or rejected thanks to how FACTOR now limits applications across these programs. The only exception is if you scored well on the application but just fell short. Keep in mind the JSR is VERY competitive and picky - I personally find it's difficult to win that grant unless you are an already successful artist with an established track-record so far. That's why I advise artists with smaller followings (or new artists) to start with the ADP program and work their way up. Not saying you're either - just a note worth mentioning for anyone reading as most of us want to go for the big kahuna, but really should start with the smaller one and work our way up! Hope this helps.
@@5piece I started releasing singles in January and the first one got picked up by an Ottawa D.J. @ CKDJ 107.9 Ottawa's New Music and he did an on air interview with me. So I went in the studio and recorded my second song, "Perfect Timing" and he also gave it a spin and I am pretty sure that he is considering placing it in rotation...and a second station picked up on it this week...I have begun making an application for JSR...The big Kahuna is what you call it and your right! When it comes to marketing and radio marketing are they talking about running advertisements and should I be looking for a publicist to do this. I am independent and I mean independent (Me myself and I team)?
