Inspired by watching boring Transformers action figure reviews, the ShartimusPrime youtube channel was launched in 2008. Engaging the audience with an edgy sense of humor while maintaining appropriate language for all ages, action figure collecting has never been this fun, and videos are posted daily! Unexpectedly, the channel became more popular for Marvel Legends reviews and Spider-Man, Avengers, and X-Men collection display videos. After a few years, the channel has branched out to review other figure properties aside from Marvel Legends and G1 Transformers Masterpiece. Hot Toys, Star Wars, Diamond Select Toys, DC Collectibles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dragon Ball Z, Attack on Titan, Godzilla, Evil Dead, and The Walking Dead toy lines have all been added to the roster of nearly 2,000 video reviews. Japanese import figures from SH Figuarts, Bandai, Figma, Square Enix, and Medicom MAFEX have been favorites as well. More recently, Kotobukiya Statues (including the very sexy Bishoujo line) and NECA Toys have become more prevalent on the channel. Being a big fan of movies such as Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, Iron Man, Captain America, The Avengers, Evil Dead, Pacific Rim, Aliens, and other films has lead the channel in the direction of also reviewing movies, movie trailers, blu ray releases, and tv shows. News updates for 2016 releases and beyond are also posted. Audience engagement is a big part of this channel, with giveaways and fan mail being read publicly once a week in the PO Box Pick-Up videos. Impressive “Shart-Art” is shared via social media and included in the opening theme song. The audience is also kept up to date with any changes to the channel, along with recent comic book pick-ups, unboxings, and action figure hauls. Stop-motion segments punishing the popular meme of the Big Time Let Down Spider-Man close most of the comparison segments, and are compiled together for guaranteed access to patrons. Lastly, all figure reviews close with a slideshow featuring dynamic poses of the figure inspired by ACBA, with the added bonus of music performed and recorded by ShartimusPrime himself.

Yeah, but this is based off the Jim Lee 90's Iceman, which wasn't blue. They were white in the comics; plus water/ice isn't blue. If anything, they could've made it more white.

It frustrates me when Hasbro doesn't factor in how a character uses their powers when designing the figure or deciding accessories. Iceman uses open hands in 99% of artist renditions. It's even right ON THE PACKAGE!!! Smh

They kinda did, it was the vintage wave one. But not quite really 80 years. I would definitely like one though, with like 20 accessories

Im gonna some dry brushing with a light blue acrylic paint and maybe also some black paint to bring out the beautiful details in the sculpt.

Good idea man! Maybe make all the figs in the line be elemental characters with new effects peices? Example could be a New johhny storm with "human" looking face and regular FF suit, add some new fire effects. Buncha figs like that would be cool to pare with a big slide effect. I mean, they did the build a wings for Spiderman HC.
I don’t have as much of a issue with the figure then the lack of accessories. He needs open hands as well as a better ice slide.
Hasbro should make a BaF wave, once completed is Iceman's slide along with ice blast effects.
If this figure had the 2016 versions color, I’d be all in.
I've had him in hand for 24hrs now, pretty much the perfect Iceman for a Jim lee/90's X-men display.... He was never blue in the comics
The plastic for the base that comes with this would have been PERFECT for the modern-Iceman figure that came out in the juggernaut wave

Seriously, why is it that Ice-man is so hard to get? He's really not a complex design at all. Get a plain sculpt with a narrow build, paint it a decent whitish/blue with a shiny finish, maybe make translucent, ba-da boom.
This one isn't bad, it just doesn't have enough to it for display options from an accessory perpsective. Just a pair of open hands, and in my opinion just be creative with the ice effects.
I think the ice slide accessory is better used if you just place one of the legs on the peg and the rest of the figure behind it. It will look like he just started.

I agree, the lack of open hands is a major let down as is that joke called an Ice Slide.
The Ice Man is fine, superior to the previous one, but far from perfect. The color makes me think of Silver Surfer.
I'm *sooo* glad that I can replace that metrosexual Iceman figure with this one. I do think it's the definitive Iceman. I wished it was more white, and the eyes weren't as close as they are..but still a great representation of their most iconic look.
I went ahead and forked over an extra $25 to get the Toy Biz Legends Iceman. Even though the ice slide isn't the same colour, sticking their fists in it and everything works out great.
Toybiz also made an X-Men Classics one with an ice slide that has wheels. The colouring matches more, but I think it doesn't look as good. Definitely more toyish compared to the old Legends one.
He looks more like Martinex to me. I absolutely hate the marble line on the face and the silverish color. It’s ok for a Martinex figure but it’s not iceman to me. The least they could’ve done is match the color to the ice slide

This Iceman is 100 times better than the new one on the Spider-man and his Amazing Friends 3 pack, AND looks a lot more like the cartoon Iceman than the new one lol. This is my favorite Iceman because he looks more like what I remember from classic Iceman, in particular it reminds me of the Jim Lee cards I used to have.
In my opinion they should've just reused this Iceman for the 3 pack, the Sunfire body is so much better than the outdated pizza spidey mold. They could've added some cell shading, open hands (and green eyes, which the actual figure from the 3 pack lacks!) and maybe an ice effect.
Also, I think of Iceman as more white than blue, it's not like actual ice is that blue IRL. However I agree this should've come with more stuff, but I always have fun coming up with accesories for ice characters. I put the Model 70 Iron Man's clear smoke effects around his arms and they look very cool on this figure as an effect piece. Dagger's energy effect also suits him very well.

A Gray mixed with silver paint wash over those Astral Doctor Strange hands may make it match better
The 2016 version is my favorite color and face sculpt (far from perfect but my favorite) but the look, proportions, over all sculpt and articulations on the retro are better so with some mismatch between those two we could get a better ML for sure. Thank you Shartimus
2016 is far superior, not just the color but the Pizza Spidey bodymold was also a better choice. Iceman is never drawn jacked until like AoA. I hope if they ever give us a Bobby Drake, they base it off 2016 Juggernaut wave Iceman.

Astral Doctor Stange hands work perfectly
It could of been a little more blue but it still looks like ice to me and not as silver as silver serfer. And i gave him havoc's affect it breaks up the color and dose give him some form of a blue. But i like it is cool as ice!
How come there always never a magneto in the xmen also there should been a regular wolverine if i was hasbro i would made the baf hulk so it can be like the hulk and X-Men plus ill get this figure he'll be in my new xmen display

Not trying to be an ass here, but I'm a bit confused on the name of this line; aren't they called the Retro (wave/collection)? Sometimes I can't find one of them, since some list the line as "Vintage."

2016 has the best color. Love the new one I just wish it had a little blue.

Shartimus! Use the Family Matters 3 Pack Quicksilver hands on him! Im currently displaying him with one of the flat hands from that figure, and it fits PERFECTLY!
I tried the quicksilver hands as well. I thought about putting them on before I ever got him. It's pretty close. They really should have had a set like that in the first place.
I really wish Hasbro would release an Iceman that's not on a translucent plastic. It should be on a white mold with blue shading.
I just wish he had open hands but like in the show he was white but had blue ice effects so it is accurate to the animated series

I was always a fan of Iceman during the Jim Lee run and was really excited about the figure release, so this was an instant buy. Then I saw that horrible line through his face and I've passed on him several times. After listening to your review I'm leaning towards picking him up though. Hopefully I can find one that the line isn't so visible. Thanks for the review.

Hey Shartimus, totally agree with you on the color. Wish he was more blue tinted.
I found a really cool accessory that works well for him though, the white effects pieces that came with the Astral Projection SDCC Dr Strange figure. A lot of times he was drawn with the effect rings around his hands in the comics. I think it works pretty good

Great figure, I agree with you about the color though. It will be my definitive Iceman since I didn’t get the 2016 one. It is an upgrade over the TB Sentinel hand one.
idk how I feel about this one. Having spent a TON of effort and cash trying to get the Juggernaut wave I feel that if I'd known what was on the horizon (90s X-Factor, Retro Storm and Iceman, Anniversary edition Colossus v Juggernaut, Cyclops/Jean/Wolverine 3 pack) I'd have skipped that entire wave or maybe that entire year of Juggernaut and Apocalypse and gotten what's available now. Hindsight :(
I wish it were more white rather than blue. It's almost like they tried to match it up with an actual ice cube than they did how he's depicted.
I also wish the x on the belt was rectangular. I'm having trouble finding source material of him actually having a round x other than the original toy biz figure.

Iceman with hair and a bigger build would've been a better 90s iceman. This looks like any other generic iceman. 90s iceman had the boxy colossus hair.
The 2016 version has the best color, but the X-Men classics seems best overall.
I think the color is really apparent by itself but when you put him with the other X-Men it fits. It's a weird effect. I personally like the departure from blue. I dont hate blue in Iceman but white/foggy clear is actually more accurate to well ice.

I think they're trying to borrow color schemes more from Alex Ross for a couple of reasons. One to blend with the 80th Alex Ross figures and two to mix and match with movie figures, which is probably WHY they're borrowing more and more from Ross. I also think this goes to why they deco'd Walgreens Human Torch with a darker belt, boots, and hands and a lighter head, to suggest a more realistic "man on fire".
Adults may not need these to mix with movie figures but I'd bet about half the buyers are parents/kids who indiscriminately mix these with movie figures.
Alex Ross draws Iceman silver and, honestly, it makes a certain amount of sense ignoring the fact that Iceman probably shouldn't be covered in thick ice at all or turn into ice but should probably in reality look more like a hypothermia victim with a 2mm clear gloss coat. Blue ice is dense and thick and doesn't make sense as moving armor anymore than John Henry Irons Steel's mask.
In any case, what makes him different from Silver Surfer is that Silver Surfer has never had ears and generally has giant eyeballs.
