I love the bass line in this. Such interesting note choices, so much subtle variation throughout in octave and interval, and of course the interplay between the drum pattern and the bass pattern drives the song. And I love how that sparse structure allow Dany to solo throughout. The fuzzy tone of the guitar keeps it 'underneath', but she's playing great little melodies starting in the second half of the second verse and continuing into the pre-chorus. They are masters of subtle arrangement!
It is a well written song, I am most impressed with the vocals on this one.

@@dicodec That's the thing I love about the recordings from this studio session. The production let's Dany's voice shine, whereas the EP tracks blend it in the mix. Like Choke in here Dany's voice feels like the star of the song, but Choke official video, it's Pau's drums starring.

These live sessions really bring out the best in all of them. They're actually completely different tracks from the original, since they were recorded live at Victoria Studios. There's a LOT of stuff you hear in these that you don't hear on the original tracks which is great in my book! Z really knocks it out of the park for a modern rock banger.. probably my second favorite song on the Mayday EP. (Disciple is still tops, sorry!)🤣 That said, they haven't written a bad one yet, and that says volumes about the amount of talent these young ladies possess. I really enjoy your reviews on these gals since you're pretty accomplished musicians yourselves! Keep rockin'!! 🤘😁🤘

Great callout on the vocals. Aside from their great instrumental chops which everyone seems to note, I think what's putting this band on the map even more than they already were is how much the vocals have progressed from their earlier videos.

Ale originally wanted to play the harp until her sisters convinced her that she wasn’t going to be able to hold down the rhythm section without learning bass.

The vocals were, she covered up the solo mistakes very well. But I might be hyper focused as a player on that. The fact that she did well at covering it really well was amazing

The girls have had voice training and training on their instruments for years and it shows, as does the diligent practice that continued through the pandemic. As for Pau's drumming, she's had expert training on tuning her instrument. As for her skill level, she's no Neil Peart or John Bonham. She's more like Ringo, providing just the right drum part for each song.

Hurray, a proper musician reacts. Good observations, you’re clearly a fan of this great band. Only 1 minor constructive critique, could you lay off the pentatonic scale demo until the talk through at the end? It’s a bit of a pet hate for me, but you did it correctly unlike someone else who noodles out of tune, with poor intonation over The Warning tracks. Don’t be offended, you do great reactions 👍

I think I’ve worked what I don’t like about some others doing this. is they’re blitzing a song looking for the key or scale while the songs playing, usually ends up sounding a mess until they’ve found it. So for anyone new to the band, might not the full experience. Anyway thanks for listening to my bs, keep on rockin that sweet PRS 👍
