Saw this concert live in Ottawa. I don't think I ever appreciated Rudy until I saw the live version with the video on the screen. The story came to life. It was awesome. When they played Crime of the Century at the end... it was extremely emotional. Such a great band who were all about the music, the story telling, instrumentation, everything. You will never see a band like this again in this age of flash and computer generated sounds where anyone can take to the stage. Real musicians and songwriters are a dying breed
I saw this live in Fort Collins Colorado; I think it was 1978. The timing of the music and the train stopping was something I found so professional at the time.
@balazsernhaft8337 Um Roger Hodgson is one of the most humble humans God ever put on this earth. Having seen the original lineup and Rick's version of Supertramp and even with John still there, there simply was literally no comparison. Also seen Roger on his own and am still a huge fan. To say that Roger left Supertramp to become a big star on his own is disingenuous and incorrect.
@@MrMieltenI am talking about his solo albums after 1983. Even Roger himself said that he lost money on them due to the poor sales records and none of his songs were hit or well-know wordwide. He stopped to create new things more than 24 years ago I did not say that he is not brilliant musician but he was simple not the same alone. His tours are another issue , he played ST songs , and use Supertramp name but he usually played only very few songs from his solo period (40 years) and his fans bought a ticket for listening old ST classic. I'm intetested in new music , ideas so that 's why i think what I wrote.
@@BalazsErnhaft I was there 12 times and he played a lot of songs from his new album! There is no need to make stories so they fit your narrative! Fact is that none of the albums Supertramp released in which Rodger Hodson had not had his hands in were flops! Rick Davirs even started to play Roger Hodgson songs in his concerts although he had promised not to! Guss why! Roger was less successful after the break up because the people did not know who he was since all of them only knew the name Supertramp!
Roger fans really kill the mood... Worshipping the guy that makes corny pop music... Rick wrote "Rudy" he can dictate who plays it with him... The only argument Roger fans have is that his songs were more popular, and popularity usually just means the most easy to digest for newbies... I agree. "Give a Little Bit" is their biggest song, but it sounds like it was made for a diaper commercial...
Roger left the band, as many egomaniacs do when they are writing most of the music...so many with him has done the same. Sad for the fans and the bandmembers.
I've never heard such a bad live version of Rudy. I have been a Supertramp fan since I was 13 years old. Roger and Rick have been my teachers in music (although they don't know it). I've been to three live concerts and never such a horrible version. Neither Mark nor Rick tune. What a shame!. The group hasn't sounded compact since Roger and Dougie left. What a way to destroy a progressive rock masterpiece. For those with dead ears, listen to the version live in Paris in 1979. th-cam.com/video/sr34bp4-cz0/w-d-xo.html
Hai ragione, non c'è paragone, è molto più bello il live di Paris, ma anche la voce di Rick è diversa! Per non parlare della parte che canta Roger.intendo in questa versione orribile.
For those with dead ears, listen to the version live in Paris in 1979. This version it´s terrible. What a way to tune out! th-cam.com/video/sr34bp4-cz0/w-d-xo.html
This is Rick Davies worst performance of this song. Can he just sing it how it is supposed to go rather than mess with vocals km timing and intonation?

@balazsernhaft8337It failed??? He kept touring the world until Coriona stopped him! Remind me of Supertramps tours and success ....

@@BalazsErnhaft If you are interested in new music listen to Roger's "Open the door" album! Great music!
Temazo brutal 🎉
This is half of Supertramp.
Yes the better half!

nem a guitarra nem o vocal do guitarrista chega perto de como Roger Hodgson cantava e tocava essa música Rudy .
The best version
Listen to a good version live and not this shame. Live in Paris 1979

Just not quite the same without RH on guitar.

I know Supertramp. I don't know that song. That was terrible. Hodgson is obviously the real talent and only reason anyone knows Supertramp.
This is a Rick song please!!!
WT* ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! THIS SONG IS A MASTERPIECE :(.
No, you don't know Supertramp. Rudy is a classic song of the band.

I think the bigger problem is the mixing, it would sound a lot better if the levels were better.
Ehhh, it doesn’t even bother me. I still love this performance!
What are talking about? It isn't that bad
