This video records most of the trip of my Dad's old AP5 Valiant which did an amazing job on it's 2500km road trip from Adelaide the Brisbane, a trip that it hasn't done in over 40 years. It's a testament to my Dad's servicing and maintenance of this car.
A little bit of history of the car it's self. My Grandparents bought this car new off the lot in 1964 in Adelaide South Australia, where it was built. They owned the car for many years and actually drove it, in around 1975, from Adelaide the Cairns and return on a holiday. I always remember the present they bought for me, a remote controlled car, I loved that thing.
My Grandfather passed away in the early 90's at the age of 82 leaving the AP5 with my Grandmother. She drove it for a few more years until she was no longer able to drive it.
My Dad owned an AP6 Valiant which was his work, family car until is was defected in the late 90's. Upon this defect, he needed a new car. He didn't want a new car and wanted something he was familiar with, so, a deal was struck between Mum, Dad and Grandma and he bought the car off her. This was then, Mum and Dad's everyday car. In 2021, Dad passed away. Before he passed, he asked me to sell the car for him as mum no longer needed it so, the process began to find a buyer.
As usual there were the tyre kickers who offered low ball prices. There was a lot of interest from the Chrysler Club in Adelaide but before they could make any serious offers, a mate of mine, Jay, after sending him some pictures of it, said he wanted to buy it. He lives in Brisbane so, off on a plane he and flew to Adelaide. This is the start of the journey of the old AP5 from Adelaide to Brisbane. Jay lives about 15 min drive from me so I get to see the car often, even when driving down the road, we run into each other on occasion, strange to see the car behind me in the rear view mirror without either my parents or Grandparents behind the wheel. I decided to share this video to anyone who is interested. It was both sad and joyful to see the old girl on the road. I am grateful that it has been sold to someone who appreciates the car's history and cares for it as much as it's previous 2 owners.
    Long live the AP5!

Wonderful road-trip vlog and a fine tribute to a car from a time when they made great cars. High notes: loved the photo morphs. A+ for the aerial drone shots; some good effort keeping up with the Valiant especially the low-level stuff. Music was A+. 26:55---loved the old film effect. Overall, very fun to watch; especially after you guys got it fixed and back on the road. Oh! Can't believe only one belt ran everything under the hood. Couldn't do that today.

My Father bought a near new AP5 about 1966-7. It was t-boned by a geriatric old dude who drove through a stop sign in 1980 and written off. Otherwise I think he would still be driving it around today at 84 yrs old. 2500 km for a 225 slant six is a walk in the park, even if it is almost 60 yrs old.

@@northeastdroneproductions My Mother was driving and spent a week in hospital with a severely broken wrist that had to be plated. She suffered with severe spinal pain the rest of her life and lost the ability to play the piano and tennis, her two favourite pastimes. While old Albert walked away without a scratch. People fail to realise how a simple act can affect other people for the rest of their lives.
On a brighter note, I then owned a VE 2 door, a VF 2 door, a VF 2 door Regal 318, a VG Pacer, 4 Chargers 6's and V8's, and a CM GLX 4 speed I later sold to Leo Geohagan. Don't I wish I owned them all now. I was buying them for $1000 each, nobody wanted them. Of course Dad was always keen to borrow whichever one or two I owned at the time. He particularly liked my CL 318 Charger (so did I). It was always being borrowed and he referred to it as 'his'. We both regret my selling it today.

Use Lucas fuel additive in your fuel ⛽️ .Has the head been of and have harden valve seat if not you will end up with valves pulling it the seats 💵.
