Wife and I have been on three Viking River Cruises and decide to book another. This year planning a Christmas River Cruise and an Ocean Cruise with Viking. This time wanted to go through travel agent and let them work with Viking Air to get flights that were OK with us. However when I called, agent with Harr advised that there was not much they could do better if I was using Viking Air to book the flights. I was a little surprised since I know Harr is rated as a good travel agency. She was very nice, just surprised that that was the case. So I went ahead and booked a Christmas River Cruise myself and decided I would just deal with Viking Air myself. Their videos are very informative.
We are limited to the Viking Air contracts or you paying separately. We do manage the air on your behalf, but if you prefer to act as your own advisor and advocate, that is definitely up to you. Thanks for the opportunity!!
I worry that you never get direct flights if you go through the cruise line you never get direct flights. Is this true or not something to worry about?
If you are flying from or to a major , international airline hub to another hub Direct flights are possible ie SEA to LHR , but if you are at a regional hub you will need to get to the hub ie budapest to seattle via paris local budapest to paris , iter anational paris to seattle
@@johnm729 Well Wishing we had booked with our cruise with Viking. But booked my flight with my cruise Another cruise line shortly after I posed this question. Over a month after we made it, we saw seat we liked better so per their contract allowance, we moved them together. One of their booking agent went in to the reservation, cancelled it, reissued tickets but not the seats! We were left with only the seats no one else wanted! You know, like the ones near the toilet! We only found out because we were checking other flight reservations and noticed we no longer had seats! No one at our cruise line could fix it and basically told us to kick rocks and take the seats that were left! Wouldn't let us speak to a supervisor to make sure there wouldn't be a repeat. Nope, next time I will book my own air so no one other than the airline can touch it. It was not worth the $300 in savings to almost not have a seat! Oh and The company that they outsourced to had one of the rudest people I have ever spoken to as she clearly was waking from home with a nasty attitude because we had the nerve to call her about the items we purchased.
Good advice... I have used Viking air on all of our Viking cruises.. Works well and saves money if you are going on to other destination.
