Did me own 300mile 2 valves and an oil change quoted 300 quid ? On your bike mate. Hardest job on the 350 classic is taking the tank off. Which took a whole 10 minutes. Garage rip off . Use the genuine parts and do it right the warrantee is fully valid still. And I still wonder how many just earwig the rocker cover and dont do a thing. As it was the factory had set the exhaust tappet too tight.v
Much better than the dealers here... One wanted $500 US and the other $630US. Found a shop with certified mechanics and they did the valves for $165. I did the oil/filter and other bits myself. Mine was done at 320 miles, and I now have 600 miles on it. It runs great, especially after we put in the DNA filter/cap. We're using Motul 5100 (semi-synth) 15w50. Been researching if I should bump to Motul 7100 (full synth) and I'm not sure yet. I can say that the motor runs better with each trip. Sounds great, pulls well, and is just nothing but fun to ride. Thanks for sharing your experience. I think Royal Enfield should seriously check with dealers - at least here in the States - to check on pricing. That's 10% of what I paid for the bike, and no way I'm paying that much for a simple service. I'll have tools ready for the next time and do it myself - which my son did on his. SAid it took him almost two hours, but some of that was due to his seat setup (non-stock) and he had to remove all of that first. Ride Safe 🙏🏼
Thanks Scott, I had read online that the first service was free of labour charges as long as you took it in before 300 miles and I think three months of purchase but it appears not so. Does the dna filter and end plate really make a difference or have you got the decat pipe as well. I have just bought the decat pipe but havnt fitted it yet. Regards .Ken
@@kennuff2 Ken. Son has a slip on but still have cat in place. One of the guys did both - have to recall who, but the sound with just the DNA or just the pipe is good. Both even better. Not sure yet if I’ll mix the cat. Might wait until spring. For sure, the DNA is a nice upgrade!!! No free servicing here, sadly. Ride Safe 🙏🏼
That sounds pretty good Ken, when you consider the labour in having the tappets done, Can't quite remember, but think mine was similar, You should be OK 'til 3000 miles now. I changed the oil and filter when the engine was "fully run in" at 1300 miles, the oil was still nice and clean, probably didn't need doing, but certainly didn't do any harm, and a good "insurance policy" for future engine life I hope, One question, do you use E5 or E10 fuel? I've always used E5, but last refill, couldn't get it and had to use E10, don't know if I'm imagining it, but I think it's not running as well on the E10. Ride safe 🦄
Hi Pete. The first time I put fuel in they only had e 10 so had no choice. Next time I got e5 but didnt notice any difference. The garage told me to get e 5 if I could so I will take their advice. Thanks Pete, a good idea to have another oil change though, cant hurt. Ken
Reasonable I think. I've heard of much higher charges for the first service. I'm from California and it is illegal here for the dealer to require they do it to maintain warranty active. The closest dealer for me is 180 miles away. So I could ride it home turn it around and write it back the next day and it would be ready for the first service.
@@kennuff2 It's the same here, in a warranty claim it's up to them to decide if the correct materials and service have been done, it does not have to be done by a Royal Enfield Dealership to keep up the warranty.
I just had my 300 mile service done £209 no valve clearance adjustment now not done till 6000 mile service .....do you think this is because people was having first service then doing their own.
I don't really know, I would have thought most people would have their first service done at the garage then doing their own 6000 which is more or less and oil change, or was any way. Your £209 seems a lot if they haven't done the tappets as the tank has to come off so not doing that make the job a lot easier for the garage. Are you in the uk.
Don’t LMT discount the 1st service if you buy the bike from them? Ignoring the fact it’s after only 300 miles that sounds pretty reasonable to me for a dealer service.
Hi Joe. Thats very expensive, is that a large top brand motorcycle premises. Where I had my service is a small family firm. There is a large garage in Grimsby that also charge £80 per hour.Ken
@@kennuff2 yes a large dealer in Essex seems to be the going rate here 80 quid an hour not much option as only one dealer and that’s a 30 mile round trip 😕👍

@@scottboettcher ok thanks Scott. I might fit my decat and filter when I have more miles on her and can appreciate it more. Ken

I was charged £49 for parts and oil and the labour was free at the Isle of Man's Royal Enfield dealer Paul Deadman in Ramsey.

yes in the UK .....the service doing tappets is £300 ......first service on my harley was free
That's pretty cheap for the first service on the Classic. I have heard of some dealers being charged £200-300 in the UK.
