You're so correct, i admit i didn't wake up to this till 42 after being laid off. Got me a federal job with a pension that also gave me credit for my military service. Started working all the overtime i could stand, started listening to people like you. Did my baby steps, became debt free by 44 then started maxing out the index funds in my jobs TSP and Roth IRA i opened with Charles Schwab. When i turned 50 started maxing the catch-up contributions also. 2010-2024, index funds, REITs, single Ai stocks. At 60 n single im debt free with a 1.2 million net worth $950,000 liquid, the rest home value and growing rapidly.

I have seen poor people buying expensive clothes, cars, TV, stereo, drugs, partying, chasing women, fighting, while I worked like a dog, buying houses, renting, staying clean, traveling on overtime jobs, living in a van, supporting my family. Now I am semi-retired, investing in stocks, thanks to your encouragement, fact is I did not know how to multiply my wealth, but I am learning and turning a corner. I appreciate your encouragement and am making some progress! Long way to go, and have only myself to blame if things go wrong, or go right! It is up to me to educate myself, discipline, and focus on being successful, while still enjoying my family and my life as I struggle for financial freedom from the slavery of debt! Thanks!

Thank you. I wish our African American people would listen to this information. I could not contribute more to my 401k until I increased my earning potential at age 38. I finished nursing school with an associate degree and let my employer pay for my bachelor's in nursing. I still drive a 2015 paid-off car that I try to keep the maintenance up on and am currently renting because of the high interest rates with owning a home at this time. I will say that African Americans try to pressure you into living the somewhat American (in debt) dream. I had many people say to me you should buy a new car or go get you a nice 3-bedroom home. I just laugh at them because I am currently single with no children so why would I need a 3 bedroom house or a new car. Most African Americans just like to look like they are wealthy by living above their means. Let's not also forget that if you do increase your income other people in the family will think that you have a money tree that they can frequently use. Social media has our people screwed. Be blessed.

You are right Mr. Fain. What do we do with our incomes ? For example when we see what black women spend each year on hair care and cosmetics, it is really a shame that it ends up in the pockets of other communities. Koreans, Indians and Chinese are the first producers in the wig and weaves business while black women are the most consumers, it is a shame. It is time for us to wake up. We just need better management of our incomes and investments within the community. Thank you..

I totally agree with you that black folks need to lean how to invest. However, 401k is trash if the company does not match. You’re not calculating the tax owed on this deferred income and taxes and inflation will eat up that cash. I took all my 401k and bought a commercial property that gives tremendous cash flow every month and I will be able to put all my assets. in a trust for next generation. I plan to retire in 5 years with zero 401k with huge investment income. Money is not wealth. Assets are wealth.

To all those refuting the evidence and claiming there are successful blocks you are indeed correct but what you need to understand is that in America per capita there are more blocks on welfare in 2024 than they were in 1974. Think about that do you think America has greater opportunities today Than it did in 1974? Why all blacks not taking advantage of this? Why are other minorities such as Indians, Chinese, Vietnamese all others surpassing the black household? It all comes down to a culture of self indulgence and over spending. You may not want to admit this because you may very well be one of these people That would rather have a shiny New Dodge Challenger or range Rover in the driveway then thinking about contributing that monthly amount into an investment from which you will reap rewards 20 years down the road but these are indeed facts.

One other point that could be made is choose very wisely in who you marry because divorce is one of the greatest threat to financial security especially for Black men. If that same million people did that for 1 year that's $9.6 billion and in 5 years that's $48 billion. In 10 years that's $1 trillion. With that much liquid cash Black people can buy most the state of Mississippi & South Carolina, establish sea lanes to the Caribbean, Salvador Brazil, & West Africa. We don't need indiviual stats! We need to pull all resourses together! If you can do this with 1 million people, what can we do with 10 million or 20 million. We have the power! ✊🏿

!! my outlook on money changed when I realized someone making $400,000 can retire broke & someone making $80,000 can retire a multi-millionaire. With the current market movement, you have $100,000 to invest. Where are you investing it?

Richard, the numbers you shared are actually worse since they are the "average" and skewed upward by the wealthy in each classification. The better number would be the "median" which would show 50% above and below. Another nice video Richard!

Hello Richard. It's good to see you again. Do you know the average person , because they don't have financial literacy, they are taught in school just work for money. They don't see the other side. They can't see what they can't see. When the market crash, I borrow money to buy real estate for pennies on a dollar. That's how you build wealth. I bought the best real estate in the world and quadruple my net worth. I didn't learn that in school. You can't build generational wealth by working 30-40 years and putting your money in a 401k or IRA full of stocks bonds and ETFs. Good investing! 🥂🍾

Generally speaking you can't make money from income. You have to money to gamble. You have to have money to lose. It's called investing. Think about nature. You have to first plant a seed. Only then is it possible for a plant to grow. You have to find a way to gamble with some of your money, typically called savings, to try to grow wealth. And much of time you will fail. Thats just the way life is. So you just keep trying until you get it right or die. What else can you do?

A better number to use would have neen the "median" as opposed to the Average as the average is skewed by extremes. That said, the overall message is clear. We must do better as a group. True freedom is FINANCIAL.
