Oh boy, I really needed to watch this. I saved six young bunnies (of which most didn't have their eyes open yet) from my yard about ten days ago. The mother hadn't come back after two days because of our four dogs and neighborhood cats. All six are doing great and growing nicely. I only handle them to feed them twice a day like Mom would have. I'm trying not to get attached, but feeding them even briefly I've grown pretty fond of them. I called a rescue but she would give me no instructions because she said it's illegal. Well, I couldn't let them just die out there so I took them in. Mine aren't quite as big as the one you released but they're growing fast. I've been dreading their release, but we live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and more woods than you could ever imagine. I know in a couple weeks I'll have to do what you did and watch them run off into the brush. I love your attitudes and optimism though and it's given me the strength I need to accept the inevitable. Thank you.

I hope it doesn't get run over in that road. They are so adorable. I took a lot of them away from my cats and Rat Terrier and released them elsewhere. They were so full of seed ticks. I felt really bad for them. I just hope they all survived afterward. We have a lot of them here in Georgia.
Next time, have some rubbing alcohol handy and spray them down. It kills alot of them. Safe on your hands, and evaporates quickly. It's a good thing your pets didn't eat them, with those ticks.

I like to see history restored for others to see how people lived back then. Susan has a great way with the baby bunnies. I have a question. I found this cottontail rabbit that was injured on the street a few weeks ago. It was clearly in shock as it did not run away from me. I picked it up and drove it home put it in a box and took it to a wildlife rehab place 90km away from me the next day. I spoke to them around a week ago and they said the pelvis was injured and possibly had brain parasites and that they are taking care of it. I read online that rabbits should be released in the same area they were found in because they live their entire lives in a 10km radius. I’d like to know your opinion on this and if you think it’s a good idea to release it back in my area. I live in toronto which is where I found the rabbit. I took it a bit up north near lake simcoe which is more of a rural area with less cars but much more wildlife.

When I lived in Florida, I'd see them around dusk when I was walking my dog.

Think about your local critters like Cottontails and Chipmunks before using pesticides or weedkiller. Many of them like to call our lawns home

Same as any other young rabbit. Parents just feed them, don't teach them.
