Stunning!! As a sidenote, I'm imagining how poor this bird's vision is during the day. The eyes remind me of blitz photography, makes me think of how bright daytime may seem to this owl. No wonder it feels threatened if it can't see shit!
@@PuggleCake It was getting too big for the "nest" I made for it and I was going to put it in a cage till it was ready to fledge. It seemed to only start making the noise once I started constructing the cage, it was perching on some furniture in the room I was in. I think putting the cage together maybe scared it. But it was okay after a while. Honestly I found it cute that this little baby robin thought the clicking noise was gonna make me back off.
Nothing. The white layer that slides over the eyes is a nictitating membrane. It acts as a 3rd eyelid. The greenish reflection inside the eye itself is the tapetum lucidum which is a reflective layer that causes the retina or back of the eye to appear green, yellow or some color in between. It helps nocturnal animals see at night.
If he is trying to be menacing, he is failing. Just too adorable to be menacing.
i am now mesmerized by those beautiful eyes of the Barred Owl

Huh so clicking of the beak is a universal threat sound. Was raising a baby robin and it started snapping its beak at me kinda like this.
Baby pigeons also make a little pop sound in their throats when telling you to back off
