- This little video series "The Friendly Velomobile" wants to give the viewer insights into the countless beautiful, amusing, kind and nice encounters which the TorPedyellow and its velonaut experience on their runs.
Lets start with a question that keeps recurring: Is it electrically driven ?
It is astonishing for most who do not know a velomobile that you can power such a vehicle by your legs only. If anything it is associated with a little car or a canoe rather than with a bicycle. And even the ones who know that the shell hides a recumbent bike, assume as a matter of course that an object so large needs an electrical assistance to be driven quickly.
So the driver can be sure of the respect for his athletic performance when he reveals that the velomobile is driven by human power only.

Excellent and thanks for the English translation! I rode both my Questxs and QV around nearer Europe and Scandinavia with no assistance and responding to the same questions. Unfortunately I now have a chronic form of leukemia so have had to "swallow my pride" and fit eassist to the qv. When I'm feeling well I still ride the Quest without assist though.
E-assist is no shame especially if someone is handicapped or uses the velomobile for other purposes than sportive ones.
You have my highest respect to keep on riding and don‘t retreat to the couch insteat.
Hey, John! I remember your Quest, that thing was a tank! You could really make it move though, what a great day that was. My first Quest.
@@TheFlamingEyeball I still have the Quest and my EQV is even heavier!
Sometimes even my "normal" recumbent bike gave me too much attention. I really want to buy or build a velo, but this unwanted "fame"... :D
