Thanks! I am short and my mom who used to love doing this for me passed away last year in November now I have her lovely sewing machine and I am teaching myself this video makes it very easy and informative! Thanks!
I just found this video, thank you so much for posting it! I'm overweight AND short, and of course, clothes designers assume if you're overweight, you must be at LEAST 5'5"! It's nearly impossible to find any clothes that fit me properly, so I took the plunge, bought myself a sewing machine, and I'm learning to make alterations. Your video was simple and easy to understand!
First time seeing an advanced sewing machine like yours since I started sewing with a Singer Featherweight. Very impressive technology. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this easy to follow, straight to the point video about hemming jeans! I hummed and hawed for about three weeks as I had to have a pair of black jeans but they only had the long length. I had to wear them for an event this weekend so I bit the bullet and shortened them on Friday. They turned out perfectly 😊. Can’t thank you enough!
You are simply THE BEST. Easy to follow you. I’ve had my sewing machine for 18 years. This is the first time I used it. I hemmed my 96 yr old dad’s pants. Not great but definitely wearable 😅. Thank you so much for your great video
Very informative! Thank you! Also, I don't know about your machine, but mine has a little compartment that holds my sewing feet, ect, in the front of the machine, that can be completely removed. When removed, you would be able to put the whole pant leg around and under the needle area, making the sewing process for something like this much easier. Does yours have this?!
The prep work done right is so important. (Getting the folds right). Thanks for explaining with measuring and marking. I’m off to get a light and dark marking pencil today. 😊
You didn’t mention to use a denim needle. I think it’s important as it helps to prevent needles breaking especially as most denim nowdays is much thicker and stiffer. Also, it would be helpful to show people the little ‘tool’ that can help machines go over a thick seam without skipping stitches.
Thank you so much for this! So clear and easy to follow, and my hems came out absolutely perfect. Really grateful for your video and how concise it is, thank you! ^ ^
@@goodhousekeepingHi Amanda, I'm new to sewing and love your video. Can you please direct me on what type and where to purchase the scissors that you are using? Thanks!
Thanks for making such a helpful tutorial. Is there a particular reason that you didn't use the free arm on the machine? Does it make a difference to the results?
I would’ve taken the accessories box off personally. Definitely easier to have the whole leg open around the machine that way you don’t accidentally catch the back side of the pants and have to rip out stitches.
Hello. Very helpful tutorial. Would love to know what model Brother sewing machine you have. I plan on sewing thick fabrics (machine quilting) and I think you said that your machine works well with thick fabric -- at least for the jeans you hemmed in the video.
Question: I had tailor hemmed my docker pants was too long. I noticed after hemmed, there was creases. It's not flat or smooth. It's that normal. Thank you for any suggestions.
Ok I don't think I belong here cuz this is definitely not the beginner class.......I bought the sewing machine on Amazon and stop....that's my educational sewing level....I don't even know half of the words she's using....wait....ooo...HEM! She said a word I know.....kinda 🙋♂️🤦♂️ this isn't going to be easy it 😅😅😅
i used duct tape lol works temporary , but that temporaryness is still there after two years I just had to reapply new duct tape lol I don't have thread and I don't have an iron and I'm too lazy to do it and learn.. mom used to take care of it, but she's gone now ,, it sucks because it would pull my leg hair...lol
I agree with you. I don’t know why it’s necessary to put music in the background when they are talking. A lot of these people who share their knowledge has music in the background. Honestly, they don’t need it. It’s so annoying and frustrating to listen to them talk and to try and filter out the background noise.😢
as a tailor for 60+ years, your title should read-how to shorten pants, as they already have been hemmed...also, when trying pants on to determine correct length, it they are pants that require a belt, it is a must to belt them so that will be pulled into the correct position that the wear will eventually be wearing them in ..........
I tried to hem my uniform trousers yesterday before I saw this video. See I did everything you did but it came out so wonky :( The seam was all wiggly and then one leg was longer then the other one. No idea what I did wrong but I felt really upset :(
I wish I could finish watching all this video. I didn’t because the so called “music” playing on background is more than annoying. Please don’t play sounds like that if you want more viewers.
I have seen pants that are too long on The Red Carpet. I have had to make my own clothes, alter hand-me-downs, and store bought dresses, pants, or anything else is a luxury. I can’t believe people would wear their pants too long, dragging on the ground, sidewalk, parking lot, and street getting filthy dirty. No telling what ppl are picking up off of the ground as they walk, and taking it with them.
There was absolutely no valid reason in discarding the original hem if you understood how to include it in your re-Heming video. There are multitudes of videos explaining how this is easily accomplished keeping the original hem while shorting the pants to a desired length.
There was a one second break between songs, and I had a moment of inner peace with the universe.
😂
I hadn't really noticed the music until I read your comment. Now it's all I can hear. 😂
all the short people watching this 🖐
Lmao

1 year later but yes

Thanks for your video. It is great that your method makes the new hem matches with the original hem

Fantastic. Thank you. This is one of my favourite videos. I want to start doing things at home and a total beginner, and really appreciate this. : )

BRILLIANT thanks for showing how to turn up hems on Jeans ......

Going to try doing this myself now. THANKS!🙂
Can you just do it for me?🥺
🤣🤣🤣
😂
Thanks for sharing this video and very helpful. 🙏🏾👍🏾
Perfectly done. Thank you
Thanks for this great, easy to follow video! Going to try this today.
So helpful! Thanks!!
SO helpful!
This is awesome, thank you!
remove the extension table on the machine before sewing, you will have a MUCH easier time hemming
Thank you so much for this! So clear and easy to follow, and my hems came out absolutely perfect. Really grateful for your video and how concise it is, thank you! ^ ^
Thank you for the super clear tutorial! I now feel ready to hem my pants!
Thanks so much!
Music background makes me feel rushed
Thank you your instructions were very helpful
Thank you for this video
Thank you!
Thank you for such a great tutorial! Helped me out a lot!

On that note, it’s off to the cleaners I go!😂 You’re awesome, but I could neva.
Thank you I will try it now
You are great, thank you!
I learned a lot! Thanks!
I love that background music. So bouncy!

nice vid, thank you
Thanks Amanda. I can never find overalls in my length, and I'm tired of just rolling them up.
I rather do it this way, it is much better than those so-called Pro hemming.
All the men watching this wondering why we never listened to our mothers🙋♂️🤦♂️🤷♂️ I'm sorry mom....I'm trying ok 😂

Thank you 🙏 but I wish you showed us your final results and how the new golden stitch looked like on the pants
You have a very informative video about hemming pants, but, the background music is SO ANNOYING 🙄
If you could lower the music, it would be great❤
😆
I don't usually agree, but the music is indeed too loud and thus distracting

@@josephinegunning3027 THANK YOU ❗️
Nice job. But I’m curious; isn’t the left of your machine by the needle removable? If so, That would make sewing easier.
I have exactly the same pins 😁
Where did she gets the pins from??? They’re so cute and look easier to find when I drop them on carpet 😂
Im 43 ,i thpught i knrw how to hem turns out Ive been doing it wrong .point being Thank you and I wish you lots of luck in the futire❤
hi any tips for speed and control , i sew like i drive pedal to the metal! lol

Do I need a heavy duty sewing machine to hem denim jeans pants? Can anyone please help im confused
Very nice but please no music is much better
Thank you for the video! This saved me, and my expensive new pair of pants that I mended at home- for the first time ever.
What is that background grid the pants behind the pants?
What kind of machine is that
I like the instruction, but the music was distracting.
I have several pairs of pants that I need to take up the hem. I think I can handle this, can't I!?
4'11
she doesnt expect you to have an iron but she does expect you to have a sewing machine lol
You can save all the money: $8.
Please don't use music. Can't concentrate it's so distracting. Thank you.
Hi Amanda! I'm a man. Will I still be able to do this?
Nope, you're S.O.L.
No. This is for women only. If you try to do it you will spontaneously combust and be removed from the US Census
Lower the music please.
No wonder small asian children be missing fingers

Losing my mind at the us defaultism, the rest of the world doesnt use inches 😊
Just google the conversion 😂
Ty but that music was too much.
Thank you for sharing. but, The hand talking is very annoying.
Racist against Italians
Lol… show us your finished product.
"Make sure you're keeping it as straight as possible" wow not the kind of video that I expected to find random homophobia in
the background music is very distracting and completely unnecessary!
One of the worst hemming techniques
Please show what’s better

I can't continue to listen to you because of the background noise. Sorry😢
True annoying music 🫤
Amazing video thank you so much !!
Glad it helped!
Wondering why she didn’t remove that part of the sewing machine so she can just place the leg comfortable on the machine and sew in a round🤷🏽♀️
Great video and nice machine! Which machine model is it? Thanks!
What model of brother sewing machine is this?
Sorry but the music is sooooooo annoying
Ahhhh that music is so distracting
Great tutorial. Thank you ❤
