I remember when the old Yamaha V-Max 4's came out & guys would chew through belts on a daily basis, especially if they were going from a hard pack to soft snow it was instant death for the belt. It,s good to see technology catching up to the power output of the new machines.
That’s an awesome idea! Breaking in the spare belt so it’s ready to go, whenever I blew a belt I was never in a break in friendly situation and the thought of putting on another $180 plus belt and having to just hammer the throttle right off the line sends chills up my spine lol, great video as usual Thanks!!
Sounds like I need to order some new belts. Thanks for the interview it really helps to know what they are doing to make a better belt. With so many brands available it’s a trial and error method to buying belts. Ultimax is next on the list.
Thanks so much, i had no idea that belts have to be broken in, I've blown a belt before but that was years ago, but I'm gonna share this with my ski-doo group
I have 10,000 miles on a 2012 turbo cat. When new I couldn’t keep a belt to stay together. Cat changed the gearing, secondary, alignment and now I have over 3000 miles on my last belt. There is a formula to good belt life, you just have to find it. In cats case, the engineers worked hard to find the cause and make correction. They got popped hard on social media so they had to correct it.
I put a XS belt on my 2016 Arctic Cat M8000 when I bought it new last year as a left over. It now has about 800 miles on it and I can tell you those weren't easy miles. 500 were in the mountain with LOOOOOOOONNNNG wide open pulls and the other 300 miles were ditch banging back at home. The belt still looks brand new and shows hardly any sign of wear. I'm very impressed so far with it and they are priced great also.
Great video! Based on the warranty info alone, I'm going to check these guys out! Way to stand behind your products!!! Louie, if we buy our belts from the powermodz store, do we have to go through you if a warranty issue arises, or do we go directly to Ultimax?
I bought a ultimax belt from a dealer here in Manitoba and it started crumbling apart first ride they told me for warranty I have to contact ultimax directly
You would have to mock up a stationery set up with similar stresses as the real thing. Putting 300 miles on a belt in fuel alone would make for an astronomical belt price. It would be awesome.
I'd love to be your go to guy. All you need to supply is an 800etec (or bigger) and a pallet of belts and I'll break in all your belts. We'll allow the following comments to give a title to my new position.
I have a question so on my 2004 Skidoo rev 500ss Mxz today i was riding and the top of my belt ripped off , where the words are and I drove for another ten minutes after hearing before checking and it ran fine but I put my spare on to get home im wondering why the top would come off no cord has come off yet my belt deflection is good and there are no black marks to show slippage and I can keep my hand on the clutches for atleast 30 seconds so their also not too hot im just wondering whats wrong if you would know or tell me who to ask thanks
Evo belts are the way to go in my opinion. Check to make sure your belt is not bottoming out on the primary clutch when you install also your secondary bushings in your clutch can cause exclusive belt heat like the square ones they now install on an rzr clutch. Just make sure nothing in your clutch is making flat spots on your roller! Just some all round good advice
If your running your sled like it's stolen, it's going to break. I see these groups fly up behind you on a trail, bully safe riders to pass, blast by, shower riders with chunks of ice and snowpack from over studded ripper tracks. You have slow down from the snow cloud vortex they leave, as you can't see on coming riders. Then later catch up to them stopped to piss, smoke, or yes repair a sled. usually partially blocking you from safely passing on the trail. You continue on then.... guess what? Here they come again. I live and sled in area north of sturgeon falls and it's getting risky sledding here on main trails on weekends. All this performance sled building is not the the direction manufacturer's should exploit... Just thought l'd share.
this guy seems to be extremely honest, even when talking about the product he designed and flaws. Thats the type of company to buy from!
I’ve always liked your interviews from trade-shows. Solid info from folks who are clearly as passionate as all of us about this sport. 👍
I love to see these guys, that know their stuff and that return policy is crazy good. We keep learning with. You Louis, awesome!!!

Ive seen this guy a couple of times in some videos and its always been informative. I run xs821 belt and its amazing
Louis you have the personality to talk to anyone, not just belt engineers.
thanks TrapR - how many beavers this season?

I also only see Skidoo belts available on the website. Are other belts available at powermodz through special order?

Real, useful information! Thanks.
Hey thanks for watching! Kids loved the candy...me too lol
Let me know if you come back this way and we can ride...I have a sled for ya.
PowerModz: Right on. I’ll bring the blueprints for the Enticer AlphaHawk.
@@AkatarawaJapan ok we build in a weekend!
Morning AJ, time for rippn in 3 more Friday's
That was definitely some good information I might have to try out one of there belts
If it's simple as just putting the belt through a few heat cycles...I'm going to start selling new belts that are pre broken in...🤑
Take a stride or Step aside that's what I was thinking. Why couldn't this be done before you buy it

Was hoping he would touch more on clutch alignment and other clutching scenarios.
Had to do this Friday

120C!? fucking 240 F! theres no way my belt could get that hot without shredding itself to pieces
I agree 100% with the 120C is grossly bad info. Maybe 120F.
polaris clutch is also a bigger diameter i believe. Generally polaris will blow belts before yamahas
Knowledge is Power, Good Deal, Great Info.
Interesting video. I learned a thing or two. Thanks Louie!

Wow did I just learn a lot
clucth tension, polaris always have tight clutches.
Both of you are awesome
Hey thanks for that.
That was a very informative vidya....MINT!
Very well done
Thank you! Cheers!
How the hell do I know when my belt is at 120 c? Before I let it cool? Give us an example
Ever used a thermometer?
I think he meant to say 120F not 120C which is 248F, the belt would fall apart at 248F
I’m running a dayco belt on my mxzx 440 is that a good belt
If it works for you then yes!
Any belt with a 440 is fine dude
Guys smart!
He is for sure.

Yes
Ultimax is boss next to OEM !
Your OEM might just be made my ultimax.
