This friends is just a special human….. more talent in his pinky toe than my entire family tree. unfortunately the mold was broken when he was created, because musicians can try for decades to duplicate this greatness but it just isn’t possible. Thank you for the upload 👍

He was a great picker for a while. Some people say demon whiskey took him away too soon, but I think maybe we wouldn't have had Townes without it. I mean if he had been medicated for his depression he may have been a very different person.
Great performance by a songwriter at the top of his game. A tiny bit surprised at the amount of covers and talking blues songs in this performance but hey, his set list his audience
It's funny right? I think it shows how irreverent he was as an artist. What would be a milestone for most performers was just another night on the road for him. You can tell by his banter too. "Notice my fingers never leave my hands"... what a punk. What a genius.
Thanks a lot! This is really great and I've been listening to it constantly, but does anyone know anything about the video broadcast of this? There's a snippet in 'Be Here To Love Me ', but I can't find the complete broadcast anywhere. I imagine it would be a great seller if ACL did an official release. 🎸 -Rest Easy Townes- 🎸
THE BALLAD OF IRA HAYES Johnny Cash TOWNES Van Zant (Others), but the better one for me is the rendition from KINKY FRIEDMAN That's my opinion and I'll stick to it. 😁. !
Townes referred to himself as a folksinger, first and foremost. Obviously I cannot speak for him but I don't think he was interested in being a polished performance artist. He had bigger fish to fry and demons to battle than to worry about what the critics had to say. Music and songwriting was his therapy. His guitar was his meal ticket. "Fame and fortune just laughed at me and then silence once again."

Yup I fancied myself a guitar picker then I heard this man and realized I have a long way to go and a short amount of time. God bless you all!!!
How I never heard of this artist till 2023 how different imagine my life if I had heard this 20 years ago!
I'm 60, my kids introduced me to him 10-15 years ago.
Pick it and it’ll never heal.

If they ever invent time travel I'm heading back to when music was real. Listen to that finger picking, I absolutely love it
No need for time travel, there is TH-cam...
@@chioko78 I'd love to see it live
No need for time travel. These artists still exist, you just haven't discovered them yet. Try folkies like Kate Rusby, John Tams and Finbar Furey

Great songwriter and guitar player, really bad singer tho
he's like kenny rogers can sing but cant stay in tune lmao

He was his own singer...
You like him or listen to others, so enjoy and accept.
THAT SIMPLE. !
BTW, I really enjoy KINKY FRIEDMAN, see. ?
Raw and honest voice. He's a storyteller. I love his voice
Thank you so much for the upload. I've tried to upload my vinyl copy online here but to no avail. I'm so glad everyone can enjoy this now.
:)
I'd like to listen to your record collection
Please try again ;-)
