For your viewers - Samson Historical here in the USA produces the brass Porte-Crayon in 2 sizes. I ordered a couple. They are nicely made. Thank you for the inspiration. Best David
Wonderful resource David!! Thank you very much for sharing the information. I appreciate the comments!! I will share the link for all the viewers. www.samsonhistorical.com/collections/journals-and-writing/products/porte-crayon
Will you discuss the brown inks used by Tiepolo and Rembrandt in their drawings? Thanks
That's lovely, sanguine is my absolute favourite. I have some sanguine rock, but its very soft and crumbles easily when I try to cut a piece. I'm ordering a chisel to see if I can get a better result. I would personally lighten the background to separate it from the figure, or colour it to bring the figure forwards.
I kinda like the fact that the sanguine isn't much darker than the paper, so that way the drawing can almost blend into the background, as if coming out of the fog.
@@thomervin7450 yes it's probably a personal preference. I tend to prefer contrast.
I know of a place to find red pigment. Hope to get a small bag full .
The should make plastic double ended chalk holder.
Amazing job.. what is the name of the pink tone of the paper?
Hello, do you make all you sanguine lead by yourself? I saw your other video where you talk about your sanguine earth stones, but do you know any brand or type of media that is close to homemade sanguine like yours? I found some sanguine stones in the sennelier boutique in paris, but I’m not sure how to make lead with this (maybe by mixing it with arabic gum?). I really love your work, it is even more beautiful that the masters where actually working that way!
Hello Delphine: Thank you for commenting! I do make my own sanguine crayons using wax from a Leonardo recipe. The wax crayons are very nice to draw with, but they do not yield the extremely fine lines of natural red chalk. You can find natural red chalk at 👉🏻www.alchemistmediums.com/shopping/pgm-more_information.php?id=25&=SID . Best regards!!!
Luis where did you find those Brass holders? I have a pair but a little bit different design. Really love them...Great Drawing Video!
Hello FF: Thanks for commenting!! I am glad you enjoyed the video. I found those holders back in the 90s at the NY Art Central art supply. I don't think they're around anymore. I've had a lot of viewers asking about them, but I have not been able to find them online.
@@LuisBorreroVisualArtist Thnx....Me either.....I checked many places....Maybe I will get lucky....Continued Success.
Any idea how they would fix their drawings so they could paint over them? i know they wouldnt have fixative like we do these days, but ive seen drawings by Rubens where he has painted over the drawing, and the drawing is still in place. Any ideas!? thanks!
Hello Mick: I have a video dedicated to underdrawing techniques. Depending on the master, the common methods employed in the past were to use black chalk or to reinforce the drawing with ink or thinned oil paint. Thanks for commenting!
Hello, where could I find bronze chalk holders like the ones you are using? Thanks.
Hello Louis: I got my brass holders years ago. They are no longer available, but one of my subscribers shared this link 👉🏻www.samsonhistorical.com/products/porte-crayon.
Where do you get the chalk?
Exactly where sell the chalk holder !!!?
Hello Sun: I bought these holders years ago. I don’t think they’re available anymore.
Link to buying the brand and name of the paper?
I will find a supplier link for you!

Please brother, what's the paper you use here?
Hello Greek Veteran: I use Magnani, Annigoni paper for my drawings.
@@LuisBorreroVisualArtist It sounds Italian! I hope it is Italian, to be able to find it here in Greece! Thank you very much, I really appreciate it!!

@@LuisBorreroVisualArtist How different is Magnani from Stonehenge or Arches 140lb hot press? Would those be acceptable substitutes?
