The Ceremony that is represented here is an Inauguration of a Torah scroll. Hachnasat Sefer Torah; Ashkenazi: Hachnosas Sefer Torah. This is a special ceremony to install Torah scrolls into a synagogue, yeshiva, shul, any location where Torah is observed. This is an ancient ceremony that can be found in the Bible, dating back to when the Ark of The Covenant was transported. The priests and King would dance , sing and play instruments as the Ark of the Covenant made its way to its next resting place. It is an act of respect and honor to G-d and His Holy Torah.

We sponsored the 10 commandments in memory of our mothers on a new Torah Scroll that our closest Chabad were scribing and everyone that sponsored anything were invited and what a fabulous event it was. I have lovely photos taken that day by the Rabbi’s brother. We aren’t orthodox, we are reform but we were treated the same as everyone else. To see my husband dancing with this beautiful new Sefer Torah and dancing and singing his heart out is a blessing I will hold forever. Shabbat Shalom

That is why they have a mechitza or physical divider between the men's and women's section in the Orthodox synagogues and celebrations. Immorality is the struggle, not women being impure. Anyone can have impure thoughts or actions. To avoid that, the Orthodox believe in separation of the sexes. I am familiar with their beliefs because I have attended services at an Orthodox Shul many times. I happen to prefer Conservative shuls where there is no separation of the sexes. But, both highly respect and honor women. They would only be considered impure if they violate the principles of Judaism, just the same as for men.
Its not a sect...its a family who wrote a Torah scroll and brought it to a synogogue where it is placed in the ark after the festivities. This family basically, 80% of whom you see is from one grandmother who survived the holocaust and these are her children,grandchildren ,great grandchildren .and great great grandkids There are some guests but most of the people are family. The grandmother is a super special woman still going strong with tremendous respect from all her family. She is the apple of their eyes. May her family continue to grow and expand and may G-d keep her strong and healthy till 120!
