Great vid! I still have my Eye 2s from 1988. Every comparison with the modern club comparison show virtually the same result. No dramatic differences. So, how do I convince my wife that I need to spend $700 to $1500 on new irons that "may" move my handicap from a 6 to a five? I think we all know the answer to that! Thanks for your work here. Neat stuff. TC
Thanks for watching and your kind words! In my buying golf clubs experience it’s best to ask for forgiveness instead of permission! 😂 I typically sell my gamers at the same time so the overall cost is not too terrible :)
great video. my dad still loves using his zing2 irons, even though i keep trying to get him to upgrade. but this video is quite interesting showing even the old clubs are still holding up very well.
Thanks! That’s awesome about your dad. I tested these once against G425s and loft for loft they held up. So that’s 2 tests for me and I feel confident that they are still really good irons! Bc of the lofts being jacked now you will def hit a modern club further, but don’t think much is from technology advances honestly… 🤷♂️
Good stuff here. I dont know what it is but I hit the old ones way more consistent. Iv'e tried new loft jacked irons and hated them. I just didnt feel comfortable with them. The second I throw in my eye2s or old wilson irons bam instant straight iron shots.
@@ivantheterriblegolfer I dont think its the shaft. Its the club head. The offset of the Eye 2 is just easy to hit. I have these in all sorts of shafts and all of them are great.
@gtpwilly3503 sounds good I am just starting back and my Ping Eye 2 shafts have too many rust spots and going too deep, they will last a while but I am looking for new shafts at present for them potentially graphite as my ISI have graphite and they feel good.
Lol We need to do an Eye 2 challenge on the sim bro! I’ve got 1 iron thru SW. No other clubs allowed Or next time we play real golf let’s take em on course and we’ll add an old Ping Anser putter!
Back in the early 70's just for you kids out there the two shafts that were highly sought after by tour players and good amateurs were ZZlite by Ping and Hogan Apex especially in woods. Graphite came and got dumped very quickly to inconsistent especially in irons ! Many years later they dragged it back to cope with the bigger heads (another story) but the ZZlite and TT Lite much the same, that is why Pings still are great today he knew what shfts to use ! So did Hogan !
2 things I think ping should bring out eye 2 with modern lofts and less offset but don’t think they will because as an eye 2 player my irons still look great and people would stick with same set for years modern irons with bits and pieces and plastic badges look bad after 2 or 3 years so more sales just saying
I have a complete set (1-LW) of first run Beryllium copper Eye2's that I bought new in 1983,,,, and play them regularly... they are the GOAT of the golf irons....
I still have my old Mcgregor RPM which are Maganese Bronze not only do they look at least as good as the Birrilium Copper Pings they perform fantastic I rate them at least as equal to my Ping Eye 2 non Berrilium for performance just not for looks and my similiar Ping non Berillium Ping Zing and Ping ISI. Unless you are an extremely low handicap golfer why not buy used Pings and similiar they are way less and perform just as well. Also love my 1 and 2 irons they are abgreat option instead of woods or hybrids.

My zing 2s keep kicking my g425s out of the bag as well
Great video. I still play my eye 2’s I used in college from the early 90’s. Still a great club.
Thanks!
I wonder if I should try to game mine? Seems like they go straight!
You’ve got nothing to loose? They just work!
@@stevec9704Mine work so well I sent the entire set to Ping. They refurbished them with new shafts and grips. Brand new again!

The Eye 2s feel much more stable to me. Maybe the shaft? 🤷♂️ 🤔

Ping HQ not gonna like this. I wouldn’t hold out hope for a Ping sponsorship after this one. Lol

Eye 2’s vs the trusty ISI’s?

Agreed! Especially the game improvement irons, they’re so busy and they go to hell quickly! 😂
