    Wow surprised to see a video about Three Rivers. We usually just drive by it on our way to the national park. We’ll have to stop and eat at some of the places you mentioned. Everyone generally just stops at Reimer’s Ice Cream and then comes home. Thanks for showing all these beautiful views of a small portion of Central CA.

    I think it's the National parks, that will mis out on world wide viewing, of the best parks in the US.
    But now, it's the turn of the parks that people would not normally go too, that will benefit from it. So in the long run the government will be the one that will mis out, on the fees that they charge. As people will go to the new parks that you are now going to find and video for the people of the US and the rest of the world.
    So good luck, on your new travels too find these new parks. Happy camping. .

    I'm of the belief that if you're not filming as part of a commercial venture as part of a registered company, why shouldn't you be allowed to film for free? They should look at it as free publicity for the parks. Loving your videos, as always. Best wishes from Tamborine, Queensland.

  • @CounselorSue
    @CounselorSue ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love your videos. It’s great that you get to enjoy such beautiful nature. Whenever we are enjoying something a lot it can be useful to analyze why we are enjoying it, or liking it so much. Once we identify the elements we can find ways to bring them into our life more often or when we really need it. For example, when I’m enjoying nature and if I analyze just what it is that is good for me, I can take note of the babbling brook (being by water is always relaxing), realize that I love love love trees, and enjoy birds. So, in the dead of winter obviously I can’t enjoy the water and trees the same way but I can enjoy bird sounds, or the rushing water using my Alexa…lol… Or, if I am really in need (experiencing low mood for a period of time) maybe I can book a flight and visit a place with those three elements. Discovering what contributes to our sense of joy can be a great element in managing life. Cheers…

  • @ReubenCornell
    @ReubenCornell ปีที่แล้ว

    Genuine question... do you ever worry about the bus getting too hot inside for the cats whilst you're out and about?

    • @Rehabit8
      @Rehabit8  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There’s a lot of monitoring temperatures, checking the weather apps and planning our activities around the weather. In summer we go out earlier to make sure we are home in the hottest part of the day etc. Fans are always left on just in case. Aircon is left on just in case we are worried. We gradually got more comfortable in knowing how the bus heats up. It depends on where the sun hits the bus and at what time of day so wherever possible we position the bus to hit the back and drivers side (least windows). You can make a huge difference just by keeping all the blinds closed and skylights covered.

    Government restrictions on our personal freedoms have become the norm.....it's all about the taxes and fees. Freedom is not free.

    • @neresq
      @neresq ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The law is 23 years old already - not new restrictions at all. And the fee for Mela and Don as a crew of only 2 people, with camera and tripod, would be: $0!!!!

    • @Rehabit8
      @Rehabit8  ปีที่แล้ว

      This law has been changing over the past few years Nancy. After Kara and Nate were fined for filming in national parks, new regulations went into effect which did not require TH-camrs to get permits. This law was originally created when TH-cam was not a thing, TH-camrs fall into this weird gray category where they are for profit videos but really can't be compared to a commercial production. Earlier this year a judge overturned that ruling and we are back at needing to get permits. There is an application fee of $40 and AT THE TIME of filming this video the permit fee for us was $150/day. We would typically spend 2 to 3 days in a national park. So that is a minimum of $340 to $490. That is an outrageous fee considering how little we earn from our videos. I just checked and you are right, it seems they have changed the permit fees for 2 people without major equipment. This is great news! Obviously the backlash from TH-camrs and viewers has been heard that they have made this change. There is still the application fee and applying well in advance which is tough for our little 2 person team here, but definitely a better option now that they have changed the permit fees for 2 people and a camera. This is something we have been researching as we go as it is every changing. We hope that we will be able to film at a national park in the future.

    Hi guys! I saw you setting up your campfire, and thought what about the times you can't have a fire because it's too dry? I know you both love pizza, why not get a personal wood fire pizza oven, then you can make your own even when you can't have an open campfire? I think you can cook other things in them as well. Cooking outside gives you lots of flexibility. Here in Canada we generally love to BBQ all year long, but if you live out West where there is drought or forest fires, like in Alberta, it can be dangerous. I think a personal portable oven might be an option.

    It is so unfortunate that these regulations are impeding your ability to share these national treasures with us. Keep on doing what you do, minus the national parks. At least for now! 🤔

  • @AliciaHauri-x2b
    @AliciaHauri-x2b ปีที่แล้ว

    That makes it impossible for people who can't not only afford it but for people who can't stay in one place 2-6 weeks and then furthermore to actually stay and film! That's ridiculous and I figure it's because the government wants their cut of every penny that one makes or what they think people make! And I see why because they see these people getting rich becoming millionaires just having a TH-cam channel so they make more then enough to live live comfortably buy huge expensive houses cars build houses and then some so they probably assume everyone makes that kind of money! It's sick and just plain old wrong!

    You're showing us beautiful country so screw the National Parks and the rediculas fees. I live next to one of the most beautiful parks in the nation and I won't pay any fees to go in because I'm a senior on a fixed income and can't afford the rates even at being a senior. Your video content is just fine so don't think for a minute you'll loose viewers due to not being able to film in the parks. I have another TH-camr who said it's a $300 per park fee and as you said, that's rediculas!!!

      That's B.S. and has nothing to do with politics. It's the National Parks owned by the Federal Govt, not the state. I doubt you're from here. I'm from the Central Valley and live an hour north of Three Rivers, Ca. Spent half my lifetime at a day park in Three Rivers during the summer months along with visiting Sequoia, Kings Canyon and Yosemite over several years. I've been to those shops along with Reimers candies and gifts, Gateway lodge and restaurant. I'd rather seek out the Mom and Pop places over any fast food.
      I'm glad to see Mela and Don enjoying the area during the spring which is about the best time to visit. Because of the rain, snowfall this winter year; swimming, kayaking is closed because of the amount of melted snow which has flooded many areas; water levels are too high, dangerous. Just a side note: James Gardner and Anjelica Houston owned property nearby. Be safe and take care.
