My wife and I visited Portugal last October, beautiful Country and people, food was amazing…we are trying to visit Madeira with our 3 children perhaps in mid April 2025 but everyone has an opinion where to go. Either way, I will be visiting this beautiful island

Sure I’m happy to suggest a few places, besides the ones mentioned in the video, in Funchal and other locations on the island: - restaurants for fish/seafood/”petiscos” - Caniçal is a top spot with many restaurants to choose from. - restaurants for the traditional “espetada” - In the Estreito area, I recommend Santo António (my family and I have been going there for many years) and O Polar. Overall, Casal da Penha in Funchal is amazing and also MadMarket, is also nice. For pizza Papa Manuel. If you are looking for fancier dining, many of the top hotels offer fine dining options. - For bars - check the Zona Velha area in Funchal; Three House also in Funchal; in Paul do Mar, Maktub Pub. For “poncha” Câmara de Lobos, Serra d’Água (also Poiso if you are passing by) are must-visits. Also check “O Barracão” in Parque Ecológico do Funchal, is quite unique. I tend to go back to favourites rather than meeting new places whenever I’m back on the island, but there are so many good restaurants to explore. Let me know any favourites you discover after your visit so I can also check out.
