It's so refreshing to hear someone speak about friendships in that way because I am exactly the same. I'm 23 and don't have a tonne of friends but the 2 true and real friends I have I trust 100%. People still at this age give me a hard time for being a 'loner' but hearing you say exactly how I feel is very reassuring. Quality over quantity ps love this vlog :)
Caitlin's Life Not to burst your bubble, TRUST NO ONE. People switch up on you when you least expect it. I'm 23 years old like you, never really been a friend person since I was way younger, especially coz I grew up with boys, and their friends were literally MEN, coz my eldest brother is 5 years older than me, and you know men are not really into that whole "best friend" thing, theu just have their "hang out" buddies and that's all.
I don't keep people too close coz people are literally more and more fake with each passing day.
Watching Investigative Discovery channel, coupled with personal experiences, and how people just turn around and literally "stab" their so-called best friends in the back is BEYOND comprehension. I dont have a circle. My "circle" is made up of my label manufacturer, dustbag and box manufacturer, my tailor and my customers over at the fabric market. Outside those people I have a very extensive list of acquaintances.
Not that I'm saying your best friend is evil or anything, I'm just saying don't get lost in the years of friendship and the delusion that you know "everything" about her/him and he/she would "NEVER" be this person or that person coz only GOD really knows what's going on in the heart of individuals we can NEVER really know what people are thinking.
There are some people married for years, been together for years, who think they know "everything" about their significant other, but all of a sudden this person they thought they "knew", switches up on them and becomes this monster they can't seem to wrap their heads around where it came from.
So all I'm saying is TRUST NO ONE but GOD and yourself, coz human beings are full of different characters ONLY GOD knows and we as human beings can NEVER figure out.
We are only as knowledgeable as what we are told, we observe, and we are shown.
What we don't see, What we aren't shown, and we don't know is either for our own good or for our own harm. #JustSaying
Queen of Modesty imo your life is gonna be quite miserable if you cant trust anyone but yourself (not religious so god wont be one to trust for me). youre gonna spend your life suspicious and wary and not enjoy it as much. each to their own but i will trust my family and closest friends
It's so hard to find people you can trust. I've been let down so many times. I like spending time alone - yep I'm weird but I'm fine with it 😂

Im a new sub, also 23 and I feel the same way about friendships as you do. Being younger, lately i've been feeling a little left out, just in life, because I chose to have that one stable friendship seen as a sisterhood with massive amounts of trust not having a sister. When i'm down about not having that group of friends that is expected, I just remain focused on building the desired life and becoming a better person. Im glad I'm not alone, and you becoming married and engaged shows the possibility to fulfillment and happiness. Sometimes I wonder, who the heck would i invite to my wedding due to just the tight knit relationships maintained through my predominant family and couple of friends. I can count on 1 hand people I call friends. I got married last month (Nov), I had 7 people at the legal matrimonial. The wedding was at the Maldives. It was only my hubby and I at the wedding. It was romantic.
So, please, keep your circle small. I only associate myself with amazing, postive, honest and uplifting people.

When you were talking about relationships, I totally can relate. I do not have many close friends myself, and don't trust many from past experiences. I asked myself if I expected too much? I believe I do. Only because when I give, I give my all and I do expect the same in return. Could this be the reason I don't have close friends? Possibly.

dear Lydia, it's so inspiring when you talk about friendship. I share your opinion in this point to 100%. I've always had those 2 best friends and we are friends now for almost 10 years. I'm not an outgoing person, too. I do not trust everyone who is smiling at me because there are so many fake people out there. But sometimes I feel like I'm not "normal" in this kind of way, because everyone around me has so many friends. I too am choosey with friends after many let downs, having only one true friend I guess keeps things simple and then my close family around me is the best way of simplifying things. I love what you said about friendships. At 45, I literally have four best friends, 3 are my hubby, son, and daughter, so really family. I do however have a lot of friends in my head. People I have connected with on some other level who I intuitively feel are just good people. I may never meet them in person, but I hold them in high regard because they seem very genuine.
