By the time Zeo came along, I was still watching PR out of loyalty, but I was definitely on auto-pilot. The Zeo Rangers were an objectively topnotch team, but too many of my favorite people had left by then. But when Jason came back, I was all in again, 100%! The gold ranger was one of my favorite things about Zeo!
I really wish Jason & Kimberly returned with Billy and Zach in the coming up 30th avi special. To see the OG rangers back in action the OG's before Tommy would have been a great fan service for the fans like me.
I kinda hope he does a King for a Day commentary. It is still, to this day, one of my all time favorite PR episodes. And the fact that it ties all the way back to The Green Candle is awesome.
Dude, when this first aired, the moment I saw that profile, I jumped out of my seat, screamed at the TV "That's Jason!" I startled my younger brothers, but said "Look, Jason's back!" They got excited when they realized I was right.

I miss all of the Veteran Rangers from Angel Grove, even Bulk and Skull,lol. Jason's always been my Favorite ranger, also Zack and Tommy... I'm 35 and grew up watching you. Thank you for your entertainment, acting, fighting, conversations, problem solving and everything else. I remember seeing the Gold Ranger and finding out it was Jason, I was Hype as ever. Appreciate you all and I'm following this channel. Shout outs to Saban filming, The OG casting and The Sentai series from Japan I didn't find out about until my 20s. 😅Still didn't change the facts of our American Cast is our O.G.'s.

One of my favourite episodes in the whole franchise. I remember when I was watching the episode the first time, I was hoping that the stranger was Jason and the show delivered! I was awestruck! Jason was my favourite since the very beginning and I was sad when he and the other two rangers departed. Nice though of doing these commentary episodes ASJ. Hopefully you do more!
I remember when I 1st saw this episode, all I could tell my little brother is that the mystery person was so obviously Jason (Austin). One "hugely" noticeable thing about Austin back then was his frame. He was that much bigger, built wise, than any ranger after him for the longest time. I can't even remember until when we ever got someone with his build again, but it sure wasn't during the Zordon era. So ya, you never got us at all. I just remember my brother jumping for joy during the opening scene because we knew it was Austin and we loved having Jason and Tommy on screen together at all times. It was basically the dynamic duo, the big guns that got the job done. :) We were rather sad when the series ended and Austin wasn't back for Turbo, especially after seeing the movie and Austin was in it. Still we did get the Gold Ranger, still my favorite ranger of all time, and we cherish the memories.

Honestly, Fox Kids kinda blew this reveal for me. They showed a commercial before this episode aired showing scenes from upcoming episodes. In it, the Gold Ranger calls for Pyramidas and even as a twelve year old, I was like "That sounded like Jason". It was still a shock to see they actually did it, but it didn't come out of nowhere for me.
This might be the only episode of Zeo I still remember, but that's because it was easily the best one. As a kid, it was so hype to see Jason return and become the most powerful Ranger to boot, that I begged my parents for the Zeo megazord set plus that giant pyramid zord to go with it.

Austin returning as the Gold Ranger was very much needed. Finally you had a dude who was a proven warrior and not some side character coming back to balance off Tommy. In addition his persona was different. Not having Austin in Power Rangers was basically like not having Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. Still I would have enjoyed Austin's character having more episodes.
I wouldn't have been surprised if Angel Grove had a no ask policy about monster attacks and vehicle damage. Lt. Stone (was it?) probably got a brand new whip out of that.
the timing of the is INSANE! i JUST finished watching that one YESTERDAY wen i came across this video today! lol my thoughts were that Zeo made the series fall off a cliff for a while, then slowly got better. Bringing Jason back and some more proper writing made the series get better! I dont know wat it was about the main characters of the machine empire, but, they just didnt do it for me! Prince Gaskett on the other hand, did well! I was even disappointed during the United Alliance of Evil, that Machina was the only one to really have a line, wen they saw Andros at the end of the table, and all she asked was "who are you?" Even in the beginning of that season premiere, it looked like King Mondo was falling asleep just standing there, waiting for Dark Specter. I think the series would have been better from the get-go with Gaskett and Archerina, even actually having Venjix and the other generals around (but still have to keep Klank and Orbus lol). Anyways, point was, the series, i think got better as time went on, and wen Jason came back, it really kicked it up into high gear! just sad to, not only see him be back for a short time, but have him lose his powers in the end and not move over into Turbo like the rest. he, at least, got to be in the movie though.
I know a Anecdote of The Gold Zeo Ranger. The Gold Zeo in Japan was played by a 12 year old boy. In the US Version it was played by 5 Different actors, The Difilipo Triplets, Austin St John and a Voice over actor, since they Dubbed King Trey the Diffilipo Triplets.
Coincidence...JYB in the Green Battle Zord...seems similar to Tommy as the Green Ranger with the Dragonzord. Dragonzord also came out of the ocean as well. Is it coincidence or intentional as a call back to the original green ranger?
