- Police have received the toxicology report from the investigation into three Kansas City men found dead outside a friend's home last month. Dr. Jeffrey Swisher joins "Elizabeth Vargas Reports" to discuss how drugs may have played a role in their death, but says it's ultimately the cold weather that killed them.

Stay away from drugs kids. Moral of story
Those grown ass men knew better. This was a norm for them'
or anybody stay from that
@@puddincup9879 hey! I see it as the boys got together and did some stuff they should have left in college. Sorry to the family members that have to hear this outcome. It sounds like they lived an amazing fun life. I would remember that as a family member.
@@user-iy9je1ff8h that’s true, I can’t really tell adults how to live their life but I hope adults consider how their family feels
Yes.
Alcohol too is a drug, a liquid, sedative, depressant drug.
The most destructive drug, in terms of lives ruined or lost, on this earth.
Night Train 😂
Finally. A reporter asking smart questions and a qualified doc that knows the answers.
(Which most of us non-conspiracy theorists already knew. 4 dudes got drunk & did "stuff". 3 went out to smoke or cool off. 1 crashed on the couch & blacked out for 2 days. He survived because he was inside).
Agreed.
That is what I was going with. Sounds like it was confirmed
Finally said what was originally said.
Yes.
Precisely.
I thought it was reckless of the families to insist that these boys would NEVER take drugs and therefore casting so much suspicion on Jordan.
Everyone is on drug including the parents.
Some of the hosts from TH-cam still curious of why the guy slept for 2 days & that was before anyone knew they were on drugs. Coming off heroin , crack cocaine,... Even alcohol. sleep for days .
The potential witness sounds like great credibility? as he's talking about the accused 20+ yrs prior, and he's talking about him with what sounds to me like he has slurred speech.
One family member found empty pill bottle s
I thought the same too
The cousin that made claims that Jordan was a "chemist" since HS making concoctions for these guys- the cousin was so high I thought he was going to black out!! He was so proud that he "knew what happened" without realizing he counter his own family's weeks long claim that the deceased NEVER EVER did drugs!
I imagine the three who passed out outside were trying to let the cold sober them up so they could drive home
That's what I was thinking in the beginning that if they did ingest fentanyl they probably didn't know what was going on and they went outside to feel better. From researching there's different stages that happen before it actually kills you.
Good point
Or owner kicked em out of house, they had no where to go and couldnt drive so decided to sleep on porche until morning.
Yes.
@MimiVerbana indeed
All took drugs, the 3 took drugs and passed out in the cold & died from the cold, the one that passed out inside survived.
The ones that survived were not opiate naiive.
Reports today shows cochise, fentanyl AND other drugs.
Nope, does not work like that buddy
@@TrickRacing Yup, it most certainly does. I am a scientist who has worked in drug delivery (pharmaceuticals) for 9 years.
Exactly 👍 phew 😮💨 I found a few people with common sense.
@@TrickRacing ok let’s test it out buddy. Let’s both take sleeping pills, I’ll pass out inside the heated house & you can pass out in the freezing cold or better yet the swimming pool like Mathew Perry. Let’s see what happens 👍
I hope everyone obsessed with this case has the same concern for everyone else using substances.
NOPE
lol they didn't care, it was pure social media virtue signaling
Why should they? This case is unique and interesting.
Everyone wants to find some evil intent but sometimes stupidity is the explanation. I can totally imagine these guys were intoxicated and rather than driving they decided to try to sober up first and just fell asleep. One thing not mentioned about hypothermia is the victim will begin to feel warm and extremely sleepy and alcohol brings on the effect of hypothermia more rapidly despite common wisdom that alcohol will warm up a person.
Imagine if the coroner put "stupidity" as the cause of death? 😲
Alcohol, in a high enough dose, also keeps you from noticing the cold as much. So it actually does make you feel warmer, even though you're not.
@@lordgarion514 semantics, redundancy
😮😅😊@@SquidzitAce
Exactly
Fentanyl laced cocaine with alcohol.
Maybe even thc
It is not the 80s, no more back than drugs were drugs 😂 😂
That is why the fourth friend slept for 2 days and did not hear the commotion. He was probably comatose as well from these drugs.
They were some bad drugs 😢
I live in the Midwest and every few years, in the winter, there's always a story on the news about someone freezing to death because they were intoxicated. Typically it's college students. One was a girl who was dropped off at home by a group of friends. They didn't wait to make sure she made it inside. Her parents found her frozen to death in front of the house.
Sad. People are excited to drink alcohol and use drugs. Nothing but troubles for you.
How awful 😖 , and when they woke up ! 😢😢😮
“Cold weather,” also known as “fentanyl”
yeah exactly
Possibly but the cold is what killed them and why the one inside survived
Everybody commenting on these guys without knowing them .This was murder .
@@Justmekpcyou can not move if something is laced with fentanyl .
@@ZzXZ636 all four of them passed out and one survived because he was inside and didn’t freeze to death
Get off your murder bs these are adults who knew what they were doing
I’m 65 and have lost several really close friends due to their choices and it’s sad to see people looking for a scapegoat as you seem to be doing
This is very unfortunate, but they were all adults. No one forced them to take drugs, they all knew what they were doing. They are all to blame... .
Three people in New York City died last year after ordering cocaine from a delivery service with the substance being revealed to have included fentanyl. Sure cold temperatures may have contributed to the deaths of these men BUT fentanyl at room temperature conditions kills too. It can cause cardiac arrhythmias and cause cardiac arrest at a strong enough a dose
Wait, there's cocaine delivery in New York??
Wrong
@@SandraWade666yea they're called drug dealers.
@@uMADdenshe told a story and you just say “wrong? “
I agree
Wonder if they went outside to sober up before driving home and things just went south fast
negative weather? lol
No matter how it happened, it’s just awful that it did. 😢
Yes, it's really sad and tragic. They were fathers.
Hey, they chose to use drugs, they got their just desserts.
@@smorris281 How do you know that they were using drugs? You don't, so stop assuming!
@@smorris281 not really, it's so sad, nobody deserves to die like this. They were obviously unhappy people, self-loathing produces this. They were suffering inside. Have some compassion.
@@hopespringseternal2624The toxicology reports said so.
The most truth i heard, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Everyone is on drugs.
It wasn't just alcohol..3 people don't all get so messed up on booze and all pass out without going back inside....Bad drugs
Exactly!
All drugs are bad.
alcohol IS a drug. Probably the cause of more deaths under more circumstances than fentanyl, or cocaine, or thc.
I SAID THIS ALL ALONG - they took drugs, drank too much and the situation was unfortunate. It doesn't mean that J. gave it to them! GOOD GRIEF. Step off and leave J alone. He's lucky that he survived. Whilst the families need a scapegoat, it doesn't mean there is one!
You don't know that. you were not there.
They can't punish the drugs so they are taking their anger out on J. When in reality no one forced them to take whatever they consumed. The families just can't accept that their loved ones basically did it to themselves.
Did they say exactly what drugs are in their system?? As one of their cousins said that J used to mix up drugs for people depending on how they wanted to feel so he could still be in trouble for that even though they passed out outside and the weather killed him. That's just another advantage for J.
@@ifloatupwardsexactly!
@ifloatupwards if J was used to it a d they weren't, he is culpable. Back in the day, nobody sold or gave drugs to anyone until they tried it themselves first to make sure it was safe and see how strong it was because people used to actually care if others lived or died, and did not want to be hurt by friends of those hurt or go to jail if someone had nerve to turn them in.
It wasn’t subzero temps until Monday night. They weren’t outside all day Monday to only freeze that night.
yep. u win. no one would go outside.
That doctor gave an awesome interview...very imformative.
It's too bad that he thinks it was the super cold home game on 1/13 and not the road game on 1/7. It wasn't sub 0 temps. It was in the 30s/20s. That's why they weren't at the game in KC because the game was in LA.
Ive seen multiple people od outside a gas station here. Just sitting talking then fall out and stop breathing. Dont fuck with drugs at all unless youre cool with abandoning your family and loved ones. And ceasing to exist.
so bizarre
I like this Doctor! Simple & straight to the point.
There’s a true account of a Finnish soldier Aimo Koivunen that skied 248 miles in -15 temperatures while high on meth. It wasn’t coke that killed them. Fentanyl for sure
A Fin is almost a Russian and Russians don’t get cold.
How true, I couldn't find my ex - husband one evening and called around to see if anyone had picked him up because his vehicles were in the driveway, and it was freezing outside. I ended up finding him passed out in his truck in the driveway. Another night I woke up to a house full of smoke, he was passed out in his recliner with a pot of macaroni and cheese burnt to a crisp on the stove. Alcohol kills everything.
Not bad, NewsNation. Finally a decent display of journalism. Keep it up!
I've seen Police calls from my area. 5 people laying in the yard all over dosing from fentanyl at the same time. Police trying to save all of them. It does happen, they were lucky it was warm out and a neighbor saw them and called the police.
This is a very sad 😭
Toxicoligy still hasnt been released!!!
prelim but not the comprehensive report
They have, but I heard several drugs and 1 being cocaine.
But they haven't mentioned all the drugs.
It was released cocaine
Just got released. Cocaine was found
click bait
They got hit with some fentanyl by accident probably.
Right. 3 grown men used to COLD weather just froze to death. Couldn't figure out how to escape a back yard. Right.
Never taken drugs , huh?
Dr Jeffrey swisher !! Best interview on News Nation. Good job Vargas Report !
I just don't believe that two grown men standing outside just collapsed to the ground and died at the same time while another one was sitting in a lawn chair.
If they were overdosing that's a plausible explanation... You're not going to have control over your body much less where you drop when you're going through that.
Surprised they didn’t blame Taylor Swift
Hopefully the families of the deceased will stop blaming the homeowner when the tox reports come back positive for drugs.
I’ve never heard of just doing coke and going to sleep
Now, let's hope the angry mob will leave the Willis man alone.
Right. They were all quick to blame him 🤦
He knows more than he is saying . No one sleeps for two days without some “ substance “ . It seems he is being protected . Tragedy for these young men , and their families .
The angry mob never admits they're wrong. Take BLM or ANTIFA for example
@@ZzXZ636 What more is there to know? He may have given the police information when they questioned him.
@@ZzXZ636well , I wouid imagine a decent lawyer told him to not talk. Why would he talk to the press at all? Why does he have to talk at all?
You get drunk enough or high enough, the freezing cold will not bother you that much.
I live in a very cold city. this is how a lot of homeless people with addictions die. They are drunk or high and don't know how cold it is. They sit down or lay down somewhere and freeze to death or get really sick from the cold and die in hospital days later.
Bruh! Homeless people die all the time in the winter. The news always report it they just never say their homeless
Only if they force fed straight whiskey or ever cease donw there threats and all of them.? Not in a million yes to 3 adult large men...drugs...drugs...drugs...did they drink?
But that is not why they went outside and sat there...BTW, it was cold but typical weather and IIRC not below zero.
@@leelauralit doesn't have to be below zero for hypothermia. It can be 50° or below. Especially if a person has skin exposed.
Basically everything like in a long Island ice tea drink.
I know quite a few people who died exactly from that, from drinking too much during cold weather and passing out somewhere outside and dieing.
Cold weather??? I don’t believe it! Something else is going on.
Duh drugs and alcohol

Cold weather and FENTANYL
MAN please leave any drugs alone ,, AM so glad that i have more sense not to use any drugs , WOW
Don’t take drugs kids!
It wasn't sub zero temps that night, but it did hit freezing. Why did Willis just tell what happened? Or maybe he collapsed first inside before the other 3 walked outside.
Edgar Allen Poe died of hypothermia in Fells Point. He fell down drunk on the sidewalk, in the cold & never got up. Bon Scott too--he was in a car. It happens.
Nevermore
He is dead right about drinking is just enough. When in a warm bar drinking and it's the end of the night everyone goes outside in the cold you start to see the alcohol take quicker effect on some people and where they were inside dancing and fine outside after 5 minutes, they are on the ground fully drunk and cannot even stand up or walking around not even able to walk a straight line or hold balance. Do that in freezing conditions and with no help your dead.
I didn’t know that about Tom Petty
So they were so drugged out, they thought it was a good idea to go outside trying to wake themselves up. The one that lived there thought they left when they actually went outside to the backyard. That explains why he didn't know, because he was passed out suffering from the same effects of the drugs.
How did no one see 3 dead guys in that backyard for 2 days?
Because not everyone is constantly looking into their neighbors backyards. How is this not obvious?
My opinion is that they drank a lot. They were constantly used to being around each other like the guy that lives there said that they would leave their cars plenty of times there so I think on top of drinking they had probably some pot may be mixed with something like spice, or just spice which would absolutely make you pass out on top of may be fentanyl and then just being in the cold just did them in. So sad❤
We had a fishing vessel go down off the coast of Nova Scotia. Two people went down with the ship, my brother in law being one of them. Three other people died from hypothermia, even though they had survival suits on. 8 crewmen survived. Fucking cold water...
Toxicology in today I live in KC and they said it was cocaine did not mention fentt maybe they are leaving that out who knows
I would not have guessed cocaine. Why would they have stayed outside??
Drugs and alcohol will and can kill you one way or another in many different combinations and conditions.
As the old saying goes....................Don't do drugs.....................These were all grown men and they knew better..........Its everyone of their faults this happened............I think no one person is to blame but all of them.......
I agree
Yes! Don't touch drugs!
Enjoyed listening to Dr Swisher discuss what actually happens with these narcotics. Hope people take note as this was such a sad thing that happened to these men.
I’ve been commenting about this from the get-go when the s2 pids kept on insisting that the 4th person inside the house killed the 3 deceased friends. They were high on something and probably impaired and went out of the house and passed out and died of hypothermia. Stop blaming the 4 or 5th friend who didn’t die. It’s not their time yet!
It's amazing how enlightened people are about drug use these days. No longer is it the character flaw of a lawless, amoral person who lacks ambition and moral integrity. I suppose it's easier to relate when it's people you know.
One’s own decision can have immediate & fatal consequences which appears to be the case here. I knew a man who was in his early 50’s & attended a party in mid December at a rural community centre. He became highly intoxicated, had gone outside, slipped & fell down beside his vehicle. Apparently not able to get up he just laid there in the freezing cold. Fortunately someone found him & he was taken to a hospital 40 mins. away. The end result. He lived, but became stone cold def in both ears.
It's too soon to make the call, just calm down, it's still early days. The next step is to let the complete autopsies and reports come in. Let the interviews be given gathered and reviewed. Find out where they got the drugs. Review the fact that Willis was a chemist and look into the widespread accusations that he cooked drugs for his friends. He ran, is it really to rehab and if so he has substance abuse issues. So much to unpack
Family of victims should know wtf their husbands/bf/ sons were doing
So if they all took the same drugs and the fourth one slept for two days on the couch, but the other 3 slept outside then they died because they froze the death, why would they be dumb enough to take so much drugs and alcohol, it’s like they wanted to die. No one is at fault here just 4 stupid men.
If I were Jordan I’d file a defamation lawsuit!
But Willis was known as "the chemist" frequently making his own drugs, accidentally killing his friends due to a "bad batch"

George McGovern's daughter died from drinking and falling asleep in the snow.
Absolutely remember this.
Fell asleep in the snow and that was from drinking too heavily back in the 70s? 80s?
@@3264headtrip "On the morning of Dec. 12, 1994, Teresa Jane McGovern, the 45-year-old daughter of the former Democratic Presidential contender George McGovern, left a local detox center in Madison, Wis. Her drinking was so out of control by then -- the police routinely picked her up drunk on the street, on buses, in stores -- that the detox center's staff had begun the legal paperwork to involuntarily commit her to an institution. That night, after downing shot after shot of vodka, McGovern stumbled out of a bar, passed out in the snow in a deserted parking lot and froze to death."

Thank you. What a great news report. Thank you for the coverage.
Yep. This case immediately didnt sound like a crime rather guys who partied too much, drank or drugged and died to the temps. Thats why the guy inside was sleeping for 2 days. They all went overboard and unfortunately it killed them. Its all a horrible accident and one those families have to live with and move on from and stop the blame game. They were grown ass men partying way too hard and accidents happen....
But all three died ? Something is fishy here …
How can any News Station report anything when the Toxicology report HAS NOT been released to the public ???
It was fentanyl.
cover-up incoming. Jordan is an asset
I would be interested in that theory, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be allowed.
What killed was not the cold, they did coke laced with fentanyl, all three went outside to either smoke a cig or weed and that’s when they passed out. Weather was a secondary factor
Three Whitney Houstons didn't die at once.
If she was in subzero temperatures then yes 3 could die at once

They know everything there.
There wasn’t though. Look up what they were. I’m not sure why this guy is saying that. It was in the 30 Sunday night. It did snow Monday night into Tuesday but still 30s. Maybe that’s still enough to freeze to death but the sub 0 temps were the next week when they played the Dolphins at home. It was insanely cold but not the weekend in question.
@@apfeiffer7606
Did you bother to factor in the amount of time they spent outside? How they were dressed? Or the effect of whatever was in their systems? Even in the 30's it is possible to freeze to death in a relatively short period of time under the right set circumstances.
@@zutrue No shit. Did you not comprehend what I wrote? I literally said that and was just pointing out the fact it wasn’t sub 0. That’s wrong and if you think it was you are also wrong.
I could see 1 person falling asleep but 3 at the same time!
It’s obviously hypothermia induced bradycardia leading to asystole. The question is what knocked them out so much that they couldn’t move to a warmer place.
all are about the same weight, if they were all drinking the same, then it HIT, and I was close to the tipping point once with hypothermia when I was 13. I realize NOW how close I was to death, fifty years ago. I didn't then.
Pre-med? Med student? Or nurse/doctor?
IF a person has a high enough blood alcohol content they simply stop breathing. Alcohol is a depressant, depressants slow respiration.
Depending on what, if any drugs they may have taken their respiratory rates could have been severely compromised. Also they were in mid to late 30s, and may have had cardiac issues, either known or unknown.
The MD did say it was hypothermia that ended their lives. We also don't know if there was other liquor available besides the beer.
It is tragic this occurred, I feel for the families.
@@Lily-wp8ol if it was the drugs they took, the guy in the warm indoors would have been dead too. I agree with his assessment that the cause of death was (probably) hypothermia induced but the drugs would have to have their RASS at a low enough level that they couldn’t move to a warmer place, much like a person on drugs can drown in a bathtub even though those drugs normally wouldn’t kill them

Yes. The WIND CHILL temperature was definitely 30 degrees below zero according to KC residents who are family of mine.

Drugs did because they were too wasted to leave ..
There was a low of 29 to 33° in Kansas City that night depending on the area, not subzero temperatures. It would be nice to have the exact correct information before reporting.
The Dr. was mistaken about the temps, but even though it wasn't subzero that night, it was definitely cold enough to die from hypothermia.
Freezing starts when water turns into ice. That’s @ 32 Fahrenheit, which is 0 Celsius. So 31F is subzero in Celsius. That’s the problem with citizens who pay little attention at school and hold on to imperial scales.

@andrewstevenson118 exactly! We should learn from other countries like Switzerland who have not just helped and saved many lives by actually treating and fully rehabilitated people but they eradicated it and the need to want to do it.
But unfortunately Big Pharma won't allow people to get ACTUAL beneficial treatment! And don't take my word for it, take theirs. Go back and watch the guy on sharktank who was going to completely stop allergies with these things that could go in your nose (or something of that nature lol it's been a min) but the point was he took that proposal to some big names and they admitted they would buy it to "shelf it" because why prevent it for $3 when we can treat it for $12
And if that doesn't say it all or the Purdue family still not being charged idk what will lolol

Cold weather after becoming incapacitated by something. Three grown men don't just freeze to death in a back yard. Where did they get the drugs? Would it be a stretch to say possibly from the chemist who lived there!??? As the homeowner/renter, if he offered his guests a controlled substance and it led to their death, wouldn't he be responsible?
They all took the drugs and drank, 3 went outside, probably trying to sober up or cool themselves down and one fell asleep inside. Each one carry their own faults. This is grow up season. Do it or …
@@BellaR. It is important to remove the drug from the street because of the deaths. The Chemist would have to rat them out or take 3 felony charges grown or not. The Chemist can't be touched and rather protected behind the doors of rehab, further buying time of what and how to say it. He is responsible since being the last one left. For example, If I rob a bank and 3 die trying with me, then I'm charged because of the result.
They were grown men. Street drugs don't come with a composition or warning label. Alcohol is also a drug that kills thousands of people every year but I never heard of a clerk at the liquor store being charged for murder after someone drinks too much.
@@pakde8002 Alcohol at a liquor store is sold legally with a license. The alcohol also is vetted for sale to the public.
