I like this with a tropical, lava rock scape with rummynose rasboras, glowlight tetras & maybe some koi, tuxedo guppies. Eques or Venezuelan cories are nice too for the bottom layer. Volcano rabbit snails in an established tank (so the plants they nibble from time to time don't get destroyed when it's a new scape) also look great.
brother you could have raised the lights till finished then lower them back.. also you super glue wooden stick support to hold the rocks in place till the black silicone dries then remove them tomorrow.. helps
also my other suggestion is that you should top off the front with white sand which not only reflects light on to the rest but also blends amazing with the dark black and green background.. 👌👌

I really like it and call me crazy, but I think it would look even so much better with la plata sand from that point on where the big lava stone formation ends. That contrast - like in Hawaii where the black magma stones meet the beach...
Amazonia not only helps with the carpeting and other "rooted" plants, but it also helps with filtration. I believe filtration in the soil, the 'substrate system' as ADA calls it, is just as important as good quality filter media in the external filter. Good comment, thanks for that!

It was Luca's tanks just before that. We need to rescape the tanks from time to time, we have limited space and need new inspiration for you guys in the videos. That said, we're always sad when we need to take layouts apart, and I personally always feel the new one is worse than the old one. :) B.
This Lightground in the back destroy the view of this great Scape and Fish total. In the most videos is this white background a killer of colors and animal movement!! It is always tragic for the great Scapes and the picture of the scope himself.
Yeah, you are right, dark backgrounds will enhance the fish and the greens of the plants, but destroy perspective. We might do a black background tank soon, thanks for the idea! Cheers.

I would use pond liner (black) foam , quick and indistinguishable form lava stone.
We've used that as well a couple times. It is slower to work with, but sometimes that is the perfect option.👍🙂

How do green aqua control tds with lime stone scapes
We let it fluctuate. Use only GH plus to remineralize, but TDS gets from 120 to 180 and back with water changes.
