No they didn't. It's always been a mix. It didn't become popular outside of the black community until people saw lighter skin tones doing what had already been done for years. The Japanese are just great as this dance style.

In ‘84 I was one of the best and practiced day and night to be able to windmill/wiz rock. I thought head glides was the top tier. I would be humiliated by any of these breakers. I am absolutely stunned but SO PROUD of the bad assery in this video! Wow
