I had a similar problem with my Compaq CQ45, but it was the white light next to the power lead socket that flashed 3 times. I tried unplugging the power lead and turning it on without the power supply battery, but this did not work either. Then I noticed turning the power supply on at the mains caused a slight crackling sound. I plugged the power supply into a different mains outlet and it worked. The faulty mains outlet caused the problem in my case
i have kinda the similar problem . Everyrtime i close my laptop lid its power LED (not powerbutton) starts to pulse BTW my LEDs colours are blue and battery is green on fully charged and orange on not fully charged. My power LED starts pulsing I have no idea why and how this started (BTW all other LEDs turn off except the power LED) and now to fully turn my laptop off, I have to open the lid again and press the power button. And even sometimes while the lid is clsoed and off , it randomly turns on sometimes , I have no idea what the heck happenend to my laptop and its really concerning .. plz help me :(((
it could either be GPU or CPU problem i have 3 of these things and fixed them all..........one however did have a bad charger port so it was just a matter of changing one.............good luck!
Maybe another alternative is by unplugging the battery and the power chord then press the power button for 30-40 second, and also you can try pressing with the battery is plugged (power chord unplugged), hope this can help.

if the caps number lock keys flashes when trying get to turn on then it's a hardware issue depending on the number of flashes, but if it's the charger led then it could be an ac/battery problem
hi there i have the same laptop what u do is the following take cmos bat out the ram bat then pop it all back and when u go to plug the charger in push with your hand as its possibley lose connection like i just had on mine mine did what yours did and what ive just done has worked :P
Beronica Cantrell The compaq range has a low powered processor & windows can play up very quickly. Try making a boot key & try it on LinuX . It does not use all the processors power & should function wonderfully.

Ladies and gentlemen this is problem with BATTERY on notebook. Try to power plug on with battery inserted for idle time about 20 minutes. Sometimes after that notebook starts couse battery get some charge. But anyway you need to replace battery. This notebook can't work w/o battery or with absolutely uncharged battery. Replaced battery and problem solved
All I did to fix mine was put the battery in as i usually leave it left out, so I put it in and tried to turn it back on it didn't work but then i tried it without the battery and it worked... really weird

Go to www.ebay.com Type in your computer type & name then type in what part your looking for. Your ram chip 400GB is as low as $9.00 & up but don't over due your ram. Max. Ram on 32bit is 400 with a stock computer. A 64 bit system is 600GB of ram. Your hard drives start at $29.99 & up. (Remember If You Upgrade) Only get a hard drive that's no more thane 200GB bigger than your old one. The reason for this on the chips & hard drive is instead of speeding it up it will slow it down because your processor will overload causing it to slow down or even crash. I hop this helps you. I finally figured it out just plug the power adapter in for 40 mins then start it it will work. This will save you from wasting money on a repair shop

I think the LED is indicating it needs a new battery. A new improved battery could resolve his problem.

1- remove the battery
2- Press the power button for 30 seconds.
3- Reinstall the battery and Leave it to fill for 5 minutes
4- Turn on the computer
mine was because of memory. i exchange two memory in their slots, and its fine now.

My compaq cq41 battery light flashes but it switches on and boots into windows no problem but it doesn’t charge. Maybe a dead battery.
