I have the older version of this mower and it has worked great for me for 5+ years. I use my 18v mower for around the house and in areas of trees where my riding mowers cannot mow. I also have a few steep banks where I use this mower because it is so lightweight. This has been a great addition to my outdoor equipment and the batteries work on all my Ryobi 18v tools. Good review with realistic performance shown. Thanks.
A real good review on the HP mower. I've had the 13" corded for quite a while now, (given to me) but I would love to be cordless. This mower sure looks to be the correct choice for my relatively small yard. Given that I have several One+ tools, it's a slam dunk for me. Thanks for taking the time to put together such a well organized overview of this mower. Cheers!
You hit the nail on the head for me - a year of experience and would you buy it again. I also have many 18v Ryobi batteries and tools, so getting a mower that uses the same system makes a lot of sense to me. I didn’t know about 18v mowers until yesterday! I have a 40V Kobalt from Lowe’s, and I think the mower is ok but the batteries don’t last. I think I’ve had bad luck with the batteries going bad very quick, but I’m just done with trying to replace them. I’m picking up a 16” Brushless model tonight, we’ll see how it goes!
@@justinwhite9689 If your yard is between 0.3-0.5 acre and flat, then this with 2 batteries should do fine. Granted, I'd keep 1 or 2 batteries charged and spare in case needed. The 40v batteries offer more power and a larger mower at the same runtime. If all your tools are 18v and you don't mind swapping the battery 1 or 2 more times as you would, get this. OR if your yard is large enough, you could go with the 18v 20" self propelled mower that holds 4x 4ah batteries but runs on only 2.
Thank you for posting your video it was very helpful I just unboxed mine and as you said putting it together to the less than 5 minutes and it's not too heavy I can lift it easily. I have not mowed my yard yet so I will be back with an update.
Thank you for the thorough review, I am looking at one of those and wasn't sure if it's a good fit for my size lawn. Now I know it is exactly what I need.
I have the "High Performance" 4 amp hour battery and I get about twice as much run time per charge than with the regular 4 amp hour battery. I love mine too!
I have had several gas mowers over the years but my favourite was an old electric twin blade with a flip over handle,it was either a Black and Decker or a Sunbeam it was a great light and practical mower.
@@NathanNagele I’m on the fence about one of these mowers, I would prefer the 40 v but I have several ryobi 18v tools. I have this exact mower, with 6 amp hour batteries. In 75F weather, it overheats and drains the battery in about 5 minutes. After that, I looked it up and every independent test shows the same thing. Nice paid ad though.
Not paid at all. I bought this for full price and still use it today. The only area where the batteries get used up quickly are with wet, tall grass. Sorry that yours didn’t work out for you but that’s not my experience.

I just got this lawnmower 2 days ago. It's mid June and around 80 degrees. My lawn hadn't been cut all year with a regular lawnmower (only had one of those old fashioned manual push blades) so the grass was about 4 to 8 inches high. With a fully charged battery, it indeed overheated and drained the battery very quick but that's because I set the height on the lowest and the grass was so high so I noticed that was putting a lot of strain on it hence draining the battery so fast. But once it's cut then it's just routine maintenance so the battery life wouldn't be as quick.
@@budgiecat9039 Don't want to believe me, that is fine...but here is a video testing it cutting basically nothing in relatively cool weather testing multiple batteries with multiple attempts. th-cam.com/video/cJjmgdK7BD8/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=RockPaperstone
So are small gas mowers it seems like more of a hassle to keep changing and charging the battery’s that it is to simply pour more gas In so idk why so many people like them
Like many people buying this small Ryobi 18v mower, I am in the Ryobi 18v One+ line of tools and have many batteries. This mower works great for small lawns. If you need many changes of batteries, then you might want to consider a larger 40v mower, or gas. I use my Ryobi 18v mower in close areas around the house that my riding mowers cannot mow. Pick the right mower for the job you need.

Bought a Ryobi 16 inch mower but it is 40 volt. Works very well.
Yeah those 40 volt ones are nice. I just didn't want to add an additional battery "standard" to my life.

Are the height adjustment in half an inch increments?

Can provide the height, width and length folded please. I would like to store this product in my wall mounted garage cabinets
Please help. Where did you purchase the mulch plug
It comes with the mower
Is there differential oil? Thanks
Not that I’m aware of but I’ll dig in to the manual when I get a chance.
How do you fold the lawnmower
There are two knobs that you have the loosen, and they allow the whole handle assembly to fold. They are a bit annoying, but it saves a lot of space.
2:35 so thats why people tend to mow downhill and not uphill.. who knew?
Dumb question but How did you fold it?
There are two knobs on the handle, about halfway down. You can loosen them and fold the handle in.
Do you think a man who has use of his hands and arms but in a powerwheel chair, could operate this mower? I assume this mower is a walk or push-behind and not a self-propelled sort of mower?
It is not self-propelled at all. It is very light compared to a typical gas mower.

I’m disappointed that your assembly of the grass catcher bag was SO FAST. Other than that nice video.
Sorry. It’s one of the parts that I never really use on mowers. I generally just raise the deck and cut multiple times if the grass gets too high.
thanks
For a lawn that big, a 36V 6ah 18" or 20" mover would have been more suitable.
It’s really not bad. A bigger mower with more power would go faster, but I’m really happy with my current setup.
What is the going price.
