- As you can see, York has so much to offer! Join us in this video as we walk the city walls into the heart of York. We toured Clifford's Tower, walked through the Shambles and visited the Jorvik Viking Center.

I live near Oxford but I grew up in Yorkshire. I've travelled all over Europe and York still is my favourite place to visit!
I'm so glad you went to the shambles at night, it gives t a whole other level of atmosphere! It's nice to see the kids enjoy these places at such a young age, the experience will last for a lifetime I'm sure!
Your kiddos' reaction to being at the top of Cliffords Tower was too cute! There are definitely some gorgeous views up there. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, so the Shambles looks like a dream! I definitely need to add that to my bucket list.

The hotel was really nice but visiting the tower icing!
I have been to London many times but never had time to explore more, these are nice sights, my family is a huge Harry Potter fan and top of the tower view looks great.

That looks so cool! My favorite was the Jorvik Viking Center! The kids were so excited! I teach music preschool and when I came back from break I noticed those wands with a few kids they are super popular and the LOVE them!

I really enjoyed this vlog. The hotel room was very very nice. My favorite part was when you went to the tower. I love that the girls said, "you can see the whole world" so cute. Any time I visit anywhere I always get a postcard. I love having that as my remember item.

The Shambles is much more than Harry Potter , it dates back to the 14th century and was the birth place of York’s Saint , Margaret Clitherow , martyred for her beliefs by Elizabeth 1st . It’s also the street of butchers , Shambles means slaughter houses , so please do think more than Harry Potter. Where was our Stunning Minster ?
Yes we LOVE the history that surrounds York ❤️ I just don't always add the history to my videos because it gets hectic with the kiddos and I'm not a historian ☺️ these videos of mine only capture a small percentage of our trips but we spend hours researching ❤️thank you for watching!

@@TheWanderingAces The cathedral, York Minster, is an astonishing building - one of the largest in Europe with some incredible stained glass - I'm not sure what the current restrictions permit, but you used to be able to climb some of the hidden tunnels and stairways to the very top, ^oo^

I've only just come across your channel, so I don't know whether you're still in the UK or have gone back across the pond. If so then I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your time here, and that we are deserving of another visit from you sometime. I myself am a Yorkshireman, albeit from Sheffield not York. I used to be in the RAF back in the day and spent 8yrs doing two tours back to back at RAF Stations near York, RAF Linton-on-Ouse and RAF Church Fenton, eventually buying a house in the market town of Selby which is probably less than 20 miles south of York. I visited the Jorvik Centre with my (then) partner back in the late 80's, but I imagine it's changed quite a bit since then. I remember going around the village in the 'car' and going past a man behind a low fence who was gritting his teeth and straining. The centre promised the sights and smells of a real viking village - and I can tell you that the smell wasn't particularly pleasant in that area. Finally, we in Yorkshire are known for being welcoming and friendly, so I was slightly ashamed to read the post from someone (no names) who was from Yorkshire and gave the impression of being a little bit condescending in their manner. I hope it didn't adversely colour your perception of us Yorkshire folk.

Kids probably enjoyed the most, my favorite part is always going to the gift shop after any museum or show to get souvenir. Nice place must be educational too, we did Tower of London when we went to London.

I didn't read any of the Harry Potter books, too long for my liking but is this where all of the books took place?
No, the films just used York for the locations because it has a lot of old buildings.
York actually has no connections with Harry Potter whatsoever. It's a myth perpetuated by the Chinese tour industry I believe. I'm a life long York resident.
@@MegaVector2011 yes that's right, JK has said she never visited York before writing the books and none of the films used York itself as a filming location.
