    From one like mind to another, thank you. My entire life has been dedicated not just to these existential matters, but in influencing others to pursue these matters as well.
    The best part for me: those moments of enlightenment when the person asking the questions, be it yourself or another, looks at their life and how they've been living it, and finally understands WHY they've been living it in that way.
    In order to satisfactorily answer most of the WHY questions concerning life, self and choice, you must almost always inevitably answer one of the 64 you listed here, or a question from a similar line of thought...
    So, in short, bravo, and job well done! You can't help anyone who will not help themselves, but you've offered a great starting point for those who finally are looking to take that first step towards advanced self-actualization.

    Great video so far. :) The question "How Can I Tell I'm Not Deluded?" really haunted me during my childhood. I can handle it better now, but back then I couldn't emotionally and it instilled a lot of doubt in myself. My older sister who is 15 years older than me is mentally challenged and perpetually has the interests and personality of a 7 or 8 year old. So, when I was 8 or 9, I started to question what that meant about her reality compared to mine. Did she see and hear the same things as me? What were her thoughts like? How does she understand things? Is there some measurable/noticeable quality about her thoughts that are significantly different than mine? The the question came "Does she know that she's mentally challenged and understand what that entails?" Then I thought "What if I'm mentally challenged and I just don't understand what that means because I'm too mentally challenged to tell that I'm mentally challenged?" Then the thought, "What if I'm insane and too insane that to tell that I'm insane?" I would spend hours just freaking myself out about it and would get terrified of coming off as weird, insane, stupid, and slow in social situations. I never fit in as a child and got made fun of quite a bit, so I would wonder if this was why.

      Gerardo R Thank you. I always had a habit of contemplation. I spent a lot of time alone in my room as kid, and I would always run through different scenarios and ask a bunch myself a bunch of existential questions... I never got an answer from the Barbie dolls though. ;D

      Watching thought is the key - not analyzing it, thinking about it.
      Both analysis and contemplation of a problem are still thinking and thus compound the conundrum.
      Dispassionate watching without looking for a solution frees one of mental reactivity and offers possibilities of insightful resolutions.

    • @shitmandood
      @shitmandood 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You had the questions but did you ever think to run an experiment to find out if you were insane? For instance, when you thought you were insane, did you go read what insanity meant & then ask yourself if you matched any of the symptoms from the definition that you read? I used to be terrified of schizophrenia when I was young though it didn't run in my family.
      A long time ago when I used to get panic attacks, I would really freak out as I didn't know what was happening to me. However, when I got a blood pressure measuring system, I could check my pulse rate & find out it was normal & this would calm me down & I could talk myself out of the panic.
      I had kids make fun of me when I was young too, but when I look back, I can see it was just a few specific assholes who would instigate for laughs. It wasn't everyone.

    • @TheDiamondNet
      @TheDiamondNet 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      shitmandood No. It was more of a what if I'm so out of touch with reality that I could never be in touch with it. So, the thought process was, if everything I experienced was a result of my insanity... even my research of insanity would be tainted by it. But this was more of an unconscious thought process back then. Like, if I were doing it now it would be like 'it seems like I'm typing a TH-cam comment but I could really be doing anything else but my brain distorts the information.'

    There exist only NOW.
    NOW is the same as BEING.
    Humans are BEING.
    Everything is BEING.
    For anything to BE is for nothing to BE, like for a sensation to BE is for a non-sensation to BE.
    These two BEs make BEING, like up and down make height.
    We are not human BEINGs, we are BEING humans.
    From BEING, language is created, like from paper and pencil, the written word is created.
    The label of human is part of language, and the relation of language with BEING, is that of the word dog
    and the BEING dog.
    There is only BEING.
    BEING is a truth that BEING human cannot deny because every BEING human knows it is I.
    I is BEING.
    I am.

    I have thought this way as a young child as well. As I grew older I realized how many people are either disinterested or afraid to discuss existential matters, especially when it challenges their own religion or lack thereof. Which is okay; not everyone benefits from contemplating these topics. Also, physics fucks everything up even more. Which is why I fell in love with the subject. The more scientists observe about our world, the weirder theories have to get to explain everything. Like the fact that the speed of light can be measured the same in different frames of reference. Or that electrons act as both waves with superposition, and particles with mass. Or that measurements of time are relative to our frame of reference. If Einstein never was open minded about the possibilities that some of Newtonian physics could be wrong, we would have never had the theory of relativity. Even if it sounds impractical, the "crazy" modern physics is used for technology that affects our current society. One example is satellites, and without those the world would be very different, right? I don't believe everyone needs to be a deep thinker to have a fulfilling life. But it is important that there are people out there who are curious in these matters, to be open minded and fulfill their curiosity while challenging current beliefs. Not only can it lead to scientists and engineers who drive tech advancements (one of the key elements of economic growth) but also can give people a healthy outlet for imagination by sustaining their own curiosity and personal growth.

    One that I ponder from time to time is this. What is art? Is it a form of entertainment? An elaborate form of communication? What are the differences between movies, paintings, photos, games and music? Are these different forms of art arbitrary distinctions? How many are there, like is that clown that ties balloons into flower shapes a kind of sculptor? Is balloon figures a form of art, and if so, are regular balloons art? When does something stop being art and become just regular reality?

      ***** Since I didn't really journal it, it's hard to put it into words or even pinpoint an exact thing. Overall, I'd say my outlook is better long term than it used to be. I was going through a crisis when I found Actualized.org. The emotional crisis has since burned out & I believe the meditation has played a key role in helping me with my issues.
      I've placed various mental filters in my mind to check my reaction against other people, I spend more time thinking about social interaction before responding or reacting to it where I can. My relationships with women & socializing have improved. I seem to be holding down a higher paying job now & also working on a life purpose. I get along with everyone I work with. I'm steadily getting wealthy. I also feel more organized. I used to feel lonely too, but since my crisis burned out, I've made my peace with it & it doesn't bother me.
      When I talk to other people & I see some weakness from their discussion, I usually give out some advice on things that Ive learned & it's typically well-received.
      Some of my older friends have distanced themselves from me since I've gone through these changes, but I appear to be building some new friendships, though none of them are close.
      Even last Friday, there was this gal who I was hanging around in the bar with who was starting to flirt with another guy. She was giving that guy a back rub, he was 60 years old & me & this woman were not that old.
      The former me would've been completely pissed off & severed ties. Instead, the new me ran the situation through my internal filters:
      a.) She wasn't my gf only a friend who can do what she wants.
      b.) Don't waste time on emotional investment.
      c.) Maybe she really wants this guy? I should be happy for her.
      d.) If she leaves with him, I'll just find somebody else. Not a big deal.
      After a bit, I started telling her how I liked the color of his blue shirt. I had no reaction to her behavior. To me, it was like a warning being given, but I never would've seen that in the past. The old me would've excused myself & got away from the scene...through jealousy & possessiveness. Now it's just seeing it for what it is & giving up the idea of forcing a situation that is out of my control.
      Next thing you know, she was hanging around me again. And the old guy got pissed off & jealous! I could tell by the body language that I've been learning to read the past few years. I was thinking to myself: he's 60 years old & he's still fucking with his own ego!! He hasn't learned.
      I find that in social interaction, it's one of the best places to gauge how you're doing because that's where a lot of pain can come from.
      Other things I'll do often is take note of when I'm judging myself or others & I make that a habit. I'll also take note if others are judging. When I listen to people talk to each other or me, I decide when the ego is in play on their end & it can help me make action on what I will say or do based on the information gained by what they have said.
      Anyhow, that's just a few different things I've learned & made use of in daily life. I'm curious as to how different I'm going to be even 5 years from how. Wish I had started earlier but didn't really know until 2012. Just walking around stumbling in the dark until the crisis hit me.

    "The need to understand will never free you from the need to understand but only lengthen the ability for you to need things to understand. And then when that breaks apart we find an invitation into the simplicity of acknowledgement"
    Kept thinking about that quote from Matt Kahn as the questions went on. Perhaps understanding is a good initial vehicle for consciousness that ends up being a hinderance at higher levels of perceptions. Acknowledgement has certainly helped me break through the plateau I was in.

    • @ActualizedOrg
      @ActualizedOrg  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +soundlurker Yes, but acknowledgement of what? And on what level of consciousness? That's the key!

    • @soundlurker
      @soundlurker 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Acknowledgement of all that is, including the need to contain the vastness of the universe into our limited potential for conceptual understanding. Acknowledgement in the sense of unconditional love for everything regardless if it's the mental illusion of the relative world projected onto the canvass or the absolute truth of what the canvass is outside of judgement and comparison. Even if that description is just another layer of conceptualization I feel acknowledgement can serve as a bridge between the self-defeating journey of understanding and the completeness of direct experience.

    I've been questioning all of these questions for a long time now. The problem is, when I try and discuss them with people on an intellectual level, everyone just tells me "Who cares" or "You're thinking too much" and then they carry on with their everyday mundane lives like it means something. Why is it so hard for my fellow brothers to try and get a grasp on the nature of reality itself, and then they shield themselves off like they're a separate being from our universe? That's what gets me.. We're the only creatures (that we know of) smart and aware enough to question these things and yet most of us brush them aside like they're meaningless. To me, that's the greatest flaw with human egotism. There's a magnificent force at work in the universe, from the micro to the macro, and yet 99.9% of us take it for granted.

    A great question I always add to any other I ask myself is: "by which rules am I playing?"
    A spoken or written answer needs a Set to get any sense.
    Q: "are these carrots sweet?"
    A:" no if compared to peaches but yes if compared to broccoli".
    The so called Ultimate or Absolute questions, those about truth, claim to be free from any subjectiveness but still ask for answers that are made up in the realm of subjective experience...in a way we want to go beside the matrix of what we try to analyze.
    Acceptance is getting rid of the desire for absolutes...
    Meditation and self inquiry also create a set to our questions, maybe a wide one but still not ultimate, this doesn't take away ANY value from them.

    Ever since I truly believed in the infinite power of self love, I haven’t had a single moment of doubt, hate, fear or powerlessness.
    I’ve manifested my self love to the point where all I feel is positive, and every moment gets better and better.
    I seriously love whoever is reading this and they are the most beautiful and perfect person in the world. My greatest wish is that you, yes literally you reading this now. When you truly love yourself, we’ll meet eachother.

    One thing I know for sure is that everything is relative. Human conciousness is based on duality and that is how we distinguish between things. To know where we are we relate to other things to find out where we are in space and time (past, now and future).
    We can enter a state of near non-duality by meditating and merging with the surroundings. If you become everything, there is no more difference between you and them, there is only being in the infinite 'now'.
    Our experience is in between the subjective (thoughts from matter) and objective (matter/geometry from physics and thoughts).

    I love to ask questions that require immense and critical thinking, I love to challenge viewpoints, whether ignorant or intelligent. But what about open ended questions?
    For example
    "What do you get for the Man Who has everything?"
    A question with no real answer almost as much as our existence itself, we question it but will we ever really know?
    This video sparks a light that opens borders in the mind for someone who cares, or someone that is curious. It's human nature to ask questions and find answers to the ones we keep to ourselves.
    Another thing I like to question is, if we do have an explicit reason to be here, what greater purpose can this reason be used for?
    You don't make a product unless it has a bigger picture, to translate that into an analogy would be,
    Say we find the reason we're here, fool proof, smart, irrefutable. Then What's the purpose of the reason within itself?
    What most people don't understand, whether it's because they don't care, don't try, or over analyze it. The big question of our existence is part of a larger picture.
    Why are we here?
    What basis does that reason exist for?
    What's the bigger picture here?
    How can we accept this answer?
    Like you say many times in this video, it's very interesting. I'd love to know myself.

I have come to the conclusion that with the way our brains work that we most likely will never be able to answer any of these questions with certainty. Interesting questions are entertainment for the person identity.
    1. The most useful question to delve into is "Who is asking these questions?" All other questions, at any level, are the play of thought arguing or debating with itself, always trying to assure itself of its ultimate reality, which it fears is not so.
    2. Thoughts *are* material, although an invisible form of materiality. Thoughts are a form of expression of energy.
    3. Someone/something/no thing is the watcher, the observer of all this "existence".
    4. Don't confuse logic as something independent of thought. Logic IS a particularly ordered form of thinking - just as belief is a limited way of thinking.
    5. Epistemology is within the realm of thought, and therefore, like all other forms of thought it is limited. In essence it is a structured process of thinking about thought. Thus it is still thought.
    6. Who is observing all of this thought?
    One might make the following observation of the relationship between thought and the manifested world we experience.
    - Before any material object, invention, etc. comes into physical existence it is first visualized in the mind (thought).
    - For example, a chair, a table, a car, a house, an airplane, etc. are conceived in the mind (thought). Then, based on perceived needs and possibilities particular conditioned processes of thinking activate and imagine how to physically manifest the object held in mind. With enough experience of various repetitive processes the objects of thought are manifested in the 'material' world via construction, engineering, craftsmanship, skill, etc.
    - Does this maybe hint at the possibility that the world of 'experience' may be a manifestation of thought (our personal mentally projected world)?
    7. Therefore consider - What is the ultimate knowledge? Is it possible that the impersonal YOU (Self), is the observer or watcher of all experience? Maybe to know who or what you are is the ultimate question that leads to the understanding of all other questions.

    Interesting list! However, I noticed that many of the questions especially in the metaphysics category are based on the assumption that time exists. For example, the question "what was before the big bang" assumes that there is a past, present and future. Since we perceive things like that, these are still good questions but I'd like to add the question whether time even exists or whether it's just a human projection onto reality, to the list.

    • @derbistheeternal2947
      @derbistheeternal2947 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      from what we know now there wasn't any time or space before the big bang.

    • @chrissa1896
      @chrissa1896 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just because time may have not existed before the big bang, doesn't mean there was no cause for the big bang to happen. Everything that led to the big bang could have happen at the very instant it happend. Causality is not limited to time. You may can not ask what happened before the big bang, but what 'created' it.
      But after all, this is just another concept my mind came up with to have an explanation for something I can't grasp.

    • @wladicus1
      @wladicus1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right. Causality is a concept of mind (thought). Thought likes nice neat answers. A beginning and ending to things. Specific systems, methodologies and orders that give it a feeling of security. I am now referring to self-referential thought whose interest is basically *me, mine, I vs you*, etc.
      What is proven by thought about the projections of thought, is still thought and limited. That is the nature of thought. The witness/observer that is beyond thought demonstrates the limitation of thought.

    • @hendrik9527
      @hendrik9527 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey guys, thank you for your replies to my comment. I get your points but I might have not been clear enough with what I meant. I didn't mean that we should question whether time came with the big bang or not.
      I meant that before we ask any question that has a time-dimension to it like "what was before the big bang", "when was the earth created", "how old is the universe" etc. we should ask whether time even exists in the first place.
      For example, you know what happened yesterday, right? And you know what happens today. Obviously, things that happened yesterday and things that are happening today cannot happen at the same time. But how do you know?
      Of course you know because you perceive it like that. But is it actually the case? Or is it perhaps also possible that you only perceive certain aspects of reality creating the illusion of time?
      Not saying this is true. Just saying it's an interesting question that can shed a completely different light on other questions.
      Like, if it was true that time is an illusion, you would approach questions like "what was before the big bang" is an entirely different way, right?

    Fascinating, as always, Leo. Thank you for this video.
    I have asked myself many of these questions (but not all - so, lots of fun to me!).
    I would like to point a proposition of a evolutionary biologist that raised a doubt about our senses. It seems that accurate senses are a lot less necessary for evolution, and those would be too expensive to development, so it seems more plausible to imagine that our perception of reality is a lot less accurate than we would appreciate (that sounds counterintuitive, but putting things like crime rates, continuous wars, destruction of earth's environment and the persistence of famine in our present world, it actually makes a lot of sense). That may have huge impact in our assumptions about the quality of our rationality, which may be as inaccurate as a consequence of dealing with misunderstood information. Although, of course, it is at least as good to suppose it's own inaccuracy, but possibly flawed never the less.
    That's just to add to the questions of certainty, biases, etc.
    By the way, the video is very inspiring. Thank you for that too!

    We can't prevent obsessive thoughts from popping up but it is very possible to stop them. The brain is very bad at thinking about two things at the same time and it is possible to train one self to immediately switch to a different topic should an unwelcome thought intrude into one's mind. It can be as fast as like 200ms, which is not enough for the intrusive thought to develop into anything significant. This technique works even against love (as in the biochemical attachment to one specific woman, not talking about passion for objects and activities) - both as prevention and a cure. Although once love is allowed to fully set in, the battle gets really tough - it's very unsettling and annoying.
    I'm currently preparing a video discussing the topic.
