why not just use a cache to solve the hot partition problem instead of creating and maintaining an entire data services library thus another failure point in the system?
They do not have any systems design perspective, as far as i understand. Storing immutable small objects in an precious OLTP database a huge mistake and waste of resouces at first place. They do not know what they are doing. I bet they do not have a data retention and archiving policy either.
