After 0-1 Daigo went into zoning mode and made it 1-1, then started mixing fireballs into zoning. Asase was strategically outplayed and became passive.
When a fight is close against a Gief. The Gief player is next level.

Sure, it's a tactic to win.. but spamming makes boring matches.
Diago dying in 10 seconds because he doesn't respect the damage Zangief can do also makes for a boring match.
Zangief is definitely one of Akuma's worst match ups. The rounds Asase won you could practically blink and miss it because it was so fast. The fact that Daigo had to start playing Akuma like he was Guile at one point tells you how low the margin of error is on Akuma versus Gief.
zangi is strong, need careful play. daigo is best choice.

Sure ask capcom remove zoning completely, there are lots of guile / sagat players spam fireballs nobody criticises them. When diago spams, haters complain simple fact.
Of all the cast Akuma is the most boring character to fight ESPECIALLY as Gief 😂

Gief in general has never ever had an overall system be in his favor like SF6 is, ever.

Daigo just knows throwing fireballs. That's why SF fireballs need to use the energy bar, some like M. bison in SFV

He's not just some guy playing for fun. He is a pro player playing to win. No matter what kind of strategies or broken character, in the end they still have to win.

If you think that's only spamming fireball. You don't know shit about this game. And besides, Daigo got master with Zangief, gained tournaments with Guy in Alpha 3 and SSF4 Yun
Daigo actually has a decent zangief, which comes from the old days of super turbo where you got cred if you were good with ryu, guile, or gief. If for some reason gief were better than either of those two in a street fighter game, I wouldn’t be surprised if daigo played gief in tournement. You just dont see him play gief very much because gief is typically not as good as those characters (or eveil ryu when he’s in the game)

Capcom gave this new generations of players so many ways to skip neutral becaus they are trash at neutral and footsie game.
