I just discovered Korsakov's Scheherazade on a video. It was the Symphonic Orchestra of Philadelphia playing, and Eugene Ormandy was the conductor. I absolutely know nothing about classical music, but it striked me like a bullet, and was moved to tears. It's been my obssession for last few days and I try to learn as much as I can about this symphony. Your video is so helpful, and you taught me very precious things. Thank you very much, because the work you provide can make non initiated people like me understand and love Classical music even more. Thank you :)
@@ggriglio Well Aziz and Aziza was a tragic tale of a young man originally pledged to marry one woman but who falls for a femme fatale. The love of the original woman protects the young man's life (though the femme fatale he falls for castrates him). He unwittingly communicates cryptic messages between the woman who loves him and the woman he craves, and the woman who loves him dies of grief because he is lost to the femme fatale, but her love saves his life. Only in hindsight with great sorrow does he see with 20:20 vision.
Marvelous video! Having written a novel (still unpublished - yet, i hope) in which Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sheherazade plays a prominent role I am always interested in an analysis of this piece. I spent about half a year with this music and its score. I loved your ideas and your passion for music. Greetings from Salzburg

Oh I'm so happy to hear you say this. Thank you for letting me know! It's so great when we can touch someone's interest and make them wanting more!
I have always loved it, though I personally think the second movement suites more the tale of Aziz and Aziza from the thousand nights and one night.
Interesting. How so?
