I agree with the talent but that just doesn't resonate/sell and I don't believe he would give up his creative freedom cause they would surely try to change/mold him

Man, I feel that every time he performs his songs sound different, but in a good way. I can't imagine the talent it takes to write a song and perform it hundreds of different ways. I wonder if he even rehearses or just makes it up on the spot. What a great musician!
Holy shit the beginning of this is the same tune as Dining Alone on his latest Can't Wake Up album but with different lyrics. This is like finding buried treasure y'all.
I am pretty totally straight... but man... when I see tis guy play, he is like, sexuality itself, a blood and flesh representation of attraction. Gorgeous, confident and funny at the same time. Also his physical features aren't ones that aren't worth mentioning. I am a jealous as hell, also feel like he's sexy as fuck.
What a gem we have been given! Its so amazing to watch him play and his lyricss to boot! You think a song is about one thing and then one lyric will show you he means the opposite lol he's the best!
I know Shakey Graves sounds the same live as in the studio but this is one of his best performances and it speaks volumes about the sound engineers at KEXP.
Don't forget Colter Wall! There's a whole movement happening in our generation where real musicians are shirking the selling out and yet we're still able to find these talented, oh-so-talented performers.

I opened Shakey's roadies edible in front of the Paramount and he sang about me, "the girl with the pocket knife and the yellow ostrich boots" and that was my 15 seconds of fame.
Shakey Graves is an incredible musician and a real inspiration. Thanks KEXP for all the tunes you spin and the artists you bring to the world. Going to blast this and go driving now because sitting in front a screen when you feel bad is a curse.
So, I've been listening to Shakey for quite some time now and there's one thing I noticed. 100% of his songs start with "well" and about 75% of those start with "well I"
Saw him for the first time on June 10, 2016 opening for City and Colour at Rexall Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta. I had never heard of "Shakey Graves" before and normally the opening band is forgettable at best. I've been a die-hard City and Colour fan for years, but I can honestly say, Shakey stole this performance. He opened with "Word of Mouth" and I fell in love. I've since downloaded a few of his recorded tracks and I much prefer him live. He embodies the music and makes it his own on stage. Wonderful enthusiasm and emotion in his voice. He's also quite funny! Very likable musician and I can't wait to see him in concert when he's not just the opener :)
I disagree..many concerts I've been to. The opening act has been better..probably hungrier and not as worn out from the grind though could be a reason.
Joseph Contreras that's because he is a story teller. That's exactly what he is, and so many stories start with "well". It comes so naturally to him. He wandered onto our camp site at the Winnipeg Folk Festival this summer and he chilled with me and my boyfriend and about 8 of our friends. We gave him whiskey, and he played my friend's guitar and told stories. He gave my buddy advice and told more stories. It's just so wonderful when you get to meet an artist you love and realize they are exactly how you hoped they would be. He's one of the most down to earth, coolest artists I've ever met.
I just can't EVEN.... ! and 25:25?! My heart explodes! Ale.....you, this, Esme, all of it. Dude! This IS something. 32:20 Grrrrr..... I'm dead. Muahhhhhhh! Besos!

i know this video is a bit old, but SO GOOD anyway! Shakey, you keep saying ""thank you" through the vid, but i just wanted to say, "THANK YOU" for being being such a talented, and creative musician, and your music makes life a bit easier for the rest of us! Keep doin what your doin!
