She is the daughter of the legendary Willie Alberti and I grew up with both because my parents listened to Willie Alberti, I later listened to Willeke 😃
My dad and i used todo audio setups for dutch artists (if they had todo 2 or 3 gigs a day in small places). Her father was kind of funny since he wanted the setup so soft he could probably do as well without a mic at all. Both she and her father are/where great artists. Doing this and later working for a radio/tv station (vpro) its always fun to see artists vs performers and how they differ in private, when they start to sing and how they relate to people in the room/locations.
Was hoping you'd get to listen to this one at some point. My father hated her with a passion, we were not allowed to play her music at home... (And tbh, i don't care that much for most of her songs because of that) But after seeing the film "rooie sien' (about 30+ years ago) that she talked about in this clip, this song hit me hard. Very beautiful, still love it. If you get the chance. Watch the original from the film. A very young willeke that sang 'telkens weer' in one take. (After getting her heart broken once again in the film) Watching that, your heart breaks with her.
Every time I hear this song I get goosebumps, in every version she ever sang it. I believe there even was a version by Wende Snijders in a French translation. But I still prefer Willeke singing it. It belongs to her.
On a critical note. It is a very beautiful and sensitive song that no one else but Willeke can sing well ! That's why I think it's such a shame that she sings it this way (leaving the lyrics behind the music). When you hear her sing this song , in its original version , along with the music , it is even more poignant and impressive ! So it is a very beautiful song , but I have heard her sing it more beautifully ! (I would say, look up the original (from the movie Rode Sien) and judge for yourself)
Willeke tells the story like no other! I love her ❤
Her timing is so impeccable
willeke is indeed a queen. she is an amazing singer.

Stunningly beautiful! After all those decades. She remains a jazz queen. And she reminds me so much of my late grandmother. A sweet little old lady.

Remember she is around 75 years old when she is singing, so she not anymore has the power to do it the way she did it. But you are right.
Someone should actually translate the song 'Ome Henk'. Then you can see a whole different side of Willeke.
