The medieval town of Óbidos is one of the most characteristic and well-preserved in Portugal. Inside the wall, you can see a well-preserved castle and a labyrinth of streets and white houses.
Any time is a good time to visit Óbidos, due to the love stories that can be found there and the medieval atmosphere, it is suitable for both family and couples and even alone, it is a simply peaceful environment. You can also include one night's accommodation in the castle at the Castelo Inn.
For restaurants, the fish stew from Lagoa de Óbidos stands out, even better when accompanied by wines from the region. Another choice is the Ginja de Óbidos, preferably in a chocolate cup.
Throughout the year, there are several events that bring some entertainment to this small town, among the best known are the International Chocolate Festival, the Medieval Market and Óbidos Vila Natal. We can also mention FOLIO - Óbidos International Literary Festival, SIPO - Óbidos International Piano Week, LATITUDES Festival - Literature and Viajantes and, more recently, Óbidos Vila Gaming. Since 2015, it has been a UNESCO Creative City of Literature.
