Lovely demonstration of the softer side of the “MS20”. It can sound so nasty and gritty. But at the same time you can get soaring, ambient leads and classic bass sounds with little effort.
I think you're about the only youtuber who doesn't completely lose it with the resonances on the K-2's HP & LP filters... finally a light touch and a bit of restraint!
I would really like to buy an MS-20 and I lean more ambient with my synths, and believe me when I say finding a subdued and tasteful MS-20 video has been incredibly challenging. This is the first one I’ve heard that I’m actually thinking, “Wow, I really hope I can make something like that with an MS-20” and not “Well, I’m 25 seconds into this video and my ears are bleeding.” Thanks a million, now I’m even more excited to get one!
Hi Ian, thank you so much. It means a lot, I’ve been really struggling lately to find time to make music. Your comment really inspires me to keep going. MS-20 is a great synth. I’ve sold a lot of stuff lately but this one is staying, that double filter is magic. Enjoy your explorations!
Dude this is the most beautiful presentation of a synth i see in yt. Really impressed, and i wonder if the k2 is the best mono synth? Im searching this kind of sound since long time, but never found with other synth. Or maybe its the inspiration of this track? It is like this synth is singing from space, can't explain the feeling
Thanks Alex that is very kind. The K2 is very nice it has that classic sound. Neutron and pro-1 are lovely too and they can all do paraphonic as well which is nice. My favourite feature of the k2 is the double resonant filter which really makes a lot of lovely sounds . ❤️🙏
Sounds amazing, am thinking about buying this little gem. Thanks for sharing your wonderful tunes, well done. Could hear these sequences for hours. 👌 Vsti's are nice, but the magic of a hardware synth is completely different to software 🚀 Must have this K-2.....
Thank you! Do it! You will not regret. It has a magical sound, I’m not interested in which one is more 100% same like the original. This feels and sounds amazing. My favourite vst is u-he diva which I love but this is a different thing all together. Both hardware and software have a space in my studio, just different
@@PatchMonger i think i will buy this synth. Diva has a lot of CPU load, some presets will crash my i7....like the name says...Diva 🤣 Uh-e plugs are really great but CPU hungry. Valhalla vst's are sweet 👌👍
Lovely tune, nice and smooth. I have the K-2 for over a week now, but didn't know what to do with It LOL. Was looking for some inspiration on TH-cam and I think I've got some :) :) :) I also have the Model D, so would be nice to see a vid like this with It. Next the Pro-1? Keep em coming and have a nice day.
Hi Brian, thanks for that. Glad you enjoyed the video. It’s a good way to learn the synth!! It’s got a lot of potential. Haha yeah I have the pro-1 coming I cannot wait!!! Loving these analog mono synths. More coming soon :)
@@PatchMonger I'm also waiting for the Pro-1, but it might be the last one for a while. I just can't keep buying new synths, but these 3 Behringer synths are a one of a life time chance, so I couldn't skip these. Need some more space ans a bigger desk. :)
Hi thank you!! No I have a small library of random videos I find. I used mainly one from London and one from. SAN Francisco for this piece. The London one is lovely you are lucky to have lived there!!! 🍻
beautiful work. When tracking this, did you already have an idea for each individual part before-hand, or did you come up with new parts as you added each track? i.e. planned vs improvised, or a mix of the two?
Hi thank you!!! Well it was the first time I did this method (all “analog”). I recorded first a few loops of ideas and took pictures of the settings I used. Then I arranged the loops on a song format. Finally I recorded each track played by hand (as shown in the video) and jam with the sound and final sequences. It lead to interesting points though the piece by doing this method. Good fun!
Do you find it a very noisy synth? I noticed on the Korg recreation there's a thick noticeable layer of noise under every key press. Do you have this? The mk2 filter on the FS model definitely improves noise levels.
@@PatchMonger Thx man! Just ordered one. :) Together with my TD3, Crave and MS-1 it'll work fantastic. Your vids are so inspiring. Keep up the good work!
That’s great!! I love the ms-1 too, it’s going to make a great combo. Get some delay and reverb too. If you use computer, the Valhalla vsts are amazing. Thank you for the comment
@@PatchMonger Indeed Valhalla rox and sometimes the Fab Filter R is also superb, not to say that a Blackhole addition is crazy too. :) I always tweak my sound through vst's. Otherwise it's too dry. Hi Jim, definitely, I love the module form. Great if you have more gear. I’m using filmora. Literally just got it, it’s a very nice software and a massive step up from imovie. You can create professional videos with it, really good. Thanks for listening 😊
Super cool video man! I have a question. you Made these pads and played them with chords. I thought that this was a monofonic synth. Do you have a trick for it or have Some people been lying to me? :) TY!
Haha thanks man. The ms20 has a paraphonic trick using sample and hold. You need some patching to do this. I think if you look at the video you can see the patching I did. Otherwise you can search TH-cam for ms20 paraphony I think there are some videos. Add some chorus to get some movement and you are set!!

Thanks zvook, it’s always tempting to add a bit more resonance on the K2 hehe. I find this synth very versatile and with lots of nice sweet spots
Agreed, except I wish there wasn't the same restraint on duration here. This begs for 10-20 min length.
This is great and demonstrates that it’s not lots of gear but skill that matters.
Thank you man, I really appreciate your comment.

most of a valhalla gear too...

Yeah, I loved. Thanks

Yes! You should be able to get the same. Only thing missing is the S&H and the HP filter. But you get the third oscillator!!!
@@PatchMonger 3rd osc? Not on the ms20 mini or were you thinking I meant boog
morphiclab303 yes! I meant comparing the mini and the k-2

Filter 1 is very noisy. Filter 2 is clean ish. Love both. Different ones so you can choose. But then I love noise and distorsión hehe
