About the roo's and the Aussie wildlife in general, there's an old Aussie saying: "Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun", you usually won't see anything in the middle of the day (11:00-13:00) as it's too hot and the sun can be brutal especially in the summer, plan your bush walks in the mornings (before 10:00) or in the afternoon (after 15:00) and you'll see much more. Also be very quiet as you walk, the animals hear you coming an bolt so even avoid stomping if you want to see the animals and birds. There's plenty of variety in Aussie snacks and food, just try stuff and find what you like, and yeah we would heat a Vegemite scroll if we can, they are much better that way, but if not, we'll happily eat them room temp, they do make for a good road trip food when you don't want to stop. you'll find cinnamon scrolls in café's and even the super market, often you'll get the option of having raisins in them too. "Lemon Myrtle" is a popular native Australian flavour, lemon myrtle jam is really yummy, so you should try that
I toured a chip factory in Adelaide when I was at school in the early 1990s. They explained that twisties came from a mistake in a new variety. They liked and branded it Twisties.
Go to a good bakery for a lamington. They should be soft and moist and the chocolate coating should still be moist. Also, they didn't traditionally have jam in the centre or (except in New Zealand I believe) have cream in them either. A good one with a cup of tea is like summer holidays in a cake.
@@davidhynd4435 the lamington we had was okay, but we could tell that the bakery’s would have better ones for sure so keep your eyes peeled on the channel for us trying that! If your not already subscribed make sure you do to be notified about future videos 🙌
Hi guys...every Aussie snack reviewer includes vegemite, so good for you for not dipping a spoon into a jar and eating it..👍🤗 PS shapes come in lunch box small serve bags too. Great blogs by the way. 🥳
The commercial supermarket lamingtons were probably made weeks ago and full of preservatives. Get fresh ones from a good bakery, the difference will be mind blowing. BBQ Shapes are the best for flavour. Tim Tam shooter is best with hot coffee. Chocolate and coffee go better together than tea. Try it just to see the difference. I’m surprised a Pollywaffle wasn’t on your list, they are an iconic Aussie snack dating back to 1947. They were discontinued in 2009 but have just been relaunched in April this year.
@@RobNMelbourne ahh we must do that soon with the Lamington! We’ll make sure to try another on an upcoming vlog. Were going to be doing a part 2 for the food reviewing so we’ll make sure to get a polly waffle on the list 🙌
Next time go to the fruit market and buy some fruits you haven’t tried before, like a Kensington Pride Mango (soon to be ready for picking), starfruit, lychees, rambutan, rockmelon, pawpaw, etc, and anything you see that you don’t recognise, ask the staff.
With the vegemite and cheese scroll, I would agree about warming it up; but I slice mine in half before putting in the microwave(1000W @ 20sec), then spread butter between the slices. Simply delicious.
Marmite and Vegemite are for sure something I as an Aussie eat off a spoon when I’m hungover, a tea spoon of one or the other always helps me feel better in that situation.
Great to see you having a taste of Vegemite in the scroll but it would be even better if you could spread it on toast, like what you pommies do with Marmite. Some other snacks to try out would be Cherry Ripe, Violet Crumble, Cheezels, Caramello Koala, Anzac biscuits, Milo, Iced Vovo, Fairy Bread.
I should add, that if you are going to continue shopping at IGA (and I do suggest you do) that you should join their member rewards program. I have done this and have saved $K's. Yes the big two commercial retailers are also cheap but we need more than two food shops in Australia and supporting other retailers is important to stop monopolies (du-opolies) from forming.
With the Tim Tam slam you are supposed to put the whole biscuit in your mouth after sucking up the tea, that way you get the full slam experience.........
🤣 try the Chicken Crimpy or Bacon flavoured Shapes when I open the box it stays open or is that just me? I think I'm doing the right thing and decide to put them away but when I look down into the silver bag there are usually only 2 or 3 left so I think to myself I might as well finish them off. But as I said that could be just me I can't speak for the whole country lol.
Thanks for the reply guys, just watched your video With Humpback Whales. You are very lucky to get such great video footage that was beautiful to see. Hard to believe that they were once hunted by humans, nice to see they are back in large numbers👍
Ah it's not just you, I think the shapes just jump out of the bag and evaporate, I mean what other plausible explanation is there, it's just like those mint slice biscuits that also seem to escape the packet in the fridge
Just be careful around sunset or early morning if you are driving in rural or semi rural areas as kangaroos will jump out in front of you without warning and will seriously mess your car up.
@@NoirL.A. We love to but never managed to get over, we had the east coast booked to visit but covid came along and ruined it for us, but one day who knows you may just see us venturing state side 😉
