    As you found out, having someone to tell you what you are doing wrong is priceless! I'm learning trials also, but can tell you 100% you need to slow way down. I know this is un-natural coming from a big bike. Try coming to a stop before the obstacle so you can't build too much speed. Let the front hit the obstacle to compress the suspension, at the same time the front hits flex your knees to compress the suspension and then hop up right after the second blip to help the bike get some lift...I'm still working on this but for sure you need something that doesn't move! Keep up the good work!

    I’m glad you’re enjoying learning trials. You’re learning that practice doesn’t make perfect unless you practice correctly.
    You’re trying a bunch of techniques that require more basic techniques before doing
    Please watch videos by Ryan Young and Pat Smagie for some good examples. You first need to learn the double blip technique before trying all these other things. Your trying to ride like riders that have been doing this for years and it looks easy and fun when they do it but their are hundreds of hours of practice behind it.
    Practice tight turns and balance, slow things down and learn wheel placement (which comes with the double blip before trying to do a stationary zap. It’s good you found a riding group to ride with but that doesn’t mean they know how to teach you.
    Hopefully someone in that group has the ability to teach you basics

    Killing it! Love the audio and video editing. Super top notch, that no one is talking about. Makes watching enjoyable, great replays and slo mo 👌. Looks like insta 360 one x2, and which mic you have? I got the dji.
    the riding skills will come with your enthusiasm. I was very much like you 3 years ago. 😉 Worked on bigger obstacles, than needed, but its so addicting its hard to practice turns. 😂 When you start competing, you'll see what everyone is talking about, slow turns for the win.
    Yard is going to take a toll with the amount of time you're putting in. 😂

    they where using preload of rpm to get that jump, try loading up rpm then release the clutch. this is so the flywheel has time to get momentum so that when you release the clutch the rpms don't drop as quick when load is applied to the rear tire

    You probably already discovered that you need to start the wheelie a lot sooner, further away from the obstacle. That allows you to hit the obstacle with the front tire and not roll up it. BTW, I am a chronic novice!

      I definitely have to get over the motocross approach to hitting obstacles. Overcoming impact aversion is not an overnight adjustment for me!

    The technique you're practicing is more complex than the type you trained previously, & in the field used for undercuts & vertical steps higher than yr back wheel.
    The point of *not* using speed is to be prepared for what comes *after* the step. This is generally what enduroists struggle with. You have to be almost at a standstill on the far side & in control, which is your biggest issue atm. In a trial, marshals (they are not yr friend) will try & plot a tight turn, climb or drop *right* after any step. Anyone in the habit of relying on speed then comes a cropper on the far side. That is why being slow is so important. Your mate had this well dialed.

      @@projectdirtbike Try to control power at the peak less through throttle roll- off (it's too slow) & more with clutch, then feathering back brake to bring the nose down. On the far side, when the back wheel lands on the grass you should just drop down & be hardly moving forward. On landing, yr eyes should be abt a bike's length ahead, ready for the next manœuvre.

    I enjoy your videos as I too am learning and working on trials coming from an Enduro and MX background. I suggestion I have, is to go get a large Loader tire, they simulate rocks quite well and are way more forgiving and will not eventually fail as a wooden built obstacle will also they do not move around on you

      I second the loader-tire thought! You can plant your foot on top of a loader tire when needed, without sending your foot down through a gap and twisting your leg. The only problem: Balancing your trials-training needs with your wife's longing for something that resembles a clean, suburban back yard. So, when you are not playing on your trials bike, place the loader tire on its side, fill it with dirt, and plant flowers in it. You can even paint the tire pastel colors. It will be pretty.

    If I was You. Coming from a Atv / Motorcross Background. I would Learn to just Balance the Bike. Get Comfortable just Bouncing around on the bike. Then move on to Bouncing on & off of Objects. Then Practice Single wheel Hops Front and Rear. Learn to Balance Them as well. You should have a Good Starting Point as far as Feel Goes for the bike. Just make sure your Comfortable

    you said the mistake you make at the beginning of the video, you go too fast, while you have to go more slowly, you lift the front by moving your weight backwards and pulling the clutch, when you hit the obstacle with the wheel you have to give the blow at that moment of gas and release the clutch by moving the weight up and forward

      So, are you saying you don't use the engine (clutch) to initially raise the front wheel? I've been releasing the clutch (at least partially) to get the initial wheel rise. I then pull I. The clutch as the bike approaches the obstacle, and finally release the clutch to get the last surge.

      No, obviously to lift you need to use engine and your movement
