  • The Godox TT350f is a great, compact, flash. You can make it even more useful but combining it modifiers like an umbrella, or an Octabox.
    Here's how to set it up with an umbrella as key light and with octabox as fill for natural light.

    You can get super cheap brackets, but this one is all metal.

    Any stand will do, but I happen to use the Manfrotto Nano Stand.

    You could use a cheaper stand- but you generally get what you pay for in stands. I've a few cheap ones, but I can't recommend them.
    In fact, bar the nano stands, I've moved over to C-Stands for most things.

    Great video. I have two TT350S flashes along with a TT685S and a TT600. The idea of using the TT350S as an off camera flash with an umbrella never occurred to me. Great idea! They could certainly, if paired up with lightweight stands and rather small umbrellas, be a convenient travel kit.

      I've a video on small light, big modifiers as well, so it's not umbrellas.

    Very help information. Just one thing I want to mention that with wireless control, you used is channel 2. You group your your flash into group A and B.

      I'm using channel two because most people are lazy asses and use channel one. I'm actually using groups A,B,C,D & E between 2 TT350F's, an AD200, an AD360 with XR16 and a V850II as it happens. Triggered from the X1TF.

    I like the form factor of that transmitter over their newer ones... Would it allow HSS on a fuji or ricoh with a leaf shutter? Great video.

    did you use ttl for this picture?tt350 power suit for big room or more person shot?

    • @lightroomblog
      @lightroomblog  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, as off camera light positions generally start fixed relative to the subject, manual flash exposure gives more consistent results.

      Well I did sell one, so probably yep! It's a great little flash and quite versatile as a trigger as well. I've the X1T-F now, so plan on doing a video on that with the 350, v850II and the AD360 using HSS.

    Thanx for the video. 1 question. What setting did you use for zoom on the flash when shooting through the umbrella?

    very nice, outdoor this flash has enought power to fill shadows with an umbrella?

    • @lightroomblog
      @lightroomblog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not super powerful. In close at full power, maybe, but full midday sun? Doubtful. I'm using the AD600 outside and it's comfortable with HSS, but it's significantly more powerful.

    Awesome information Sean:) I’m planning to buy a TT350 soon.
    Do you think it would also work nicely with a 32” softbox?

      I even use it with a 48" Octa, though I did get a double bracket for faster recycling.

    thank you for this helpful video. there is one thing i would like to ask if you dont mind. i really like the soft light effect from the octa and the umbrella. but in a more dynamic situation, lets say in a wedding, how can i get the same light softness as the octa/umbrella? does adding diffuser onto the flash will work? thanks in advance

    Does the TT350 make enough light to fill a 120cm octabox? Thanks :)

    • @lightroomblog
      @lightroomblog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same as the 850 or close. Powerwise it's less, but indoors that's less of an issue.

    • @baalrunner8194
      @baalrunner8194 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lightroomblog ok, thanks, because I'm worried a 120cm octabox is too big for that flash... I haven't tried it yet but I guess I will have to use it full power. I want to use it outdoors mainly... What do you think? Thanks :)

    • @lightroomblog
      @lightroomblog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Baalrunner power is the issue outdoors. You need tonnes of it. I’m using the AD600 outdoors.

    Would you mind sharing the settings you used with the octa? ISO, aperture, flash power. Thanks!

    • @lightroomblog
      @lightroomblog  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Pierre, the answer is what I wanted for the scene. Repeating them will only work if you're in exactly the same scene. For example, the first one is ISO400, F1.6, 1/125sec, whereas the last one is ISO800, f2.0, 1/60 Sec. The ambient light was dropping at that stage. All of these shots were done at 1/32 power, so very low, but that would entirely depend on your distance away from the softbox. Changing aperture affects the power on manual flash. So changing from f 1.6 to f2.0 would lose 2/3 stop of light. Bumping the ISO to 800 brings it back up 1/3 stop more flash power. Moving the Octa in or out will also change the flash power on the subject. Really what you do is get the ambient exposure the way you want, then add the flash. Turn up and down the flash to get the balance you want with ambient.
