Whether they are "THE BEST" or not, the great thing about having vegan options is being able to go out with a friend who wants to go to a certain place, and you don't have to say, "SORRY, I CAN'T EAT THERE."
I'm a firm believer fast food restaurants should bring in some sorta vegan cheese. Not only does it attract more vegan buyers, but a hugeee amount of people are intolerant to at least one aspect of dairy (casein, whey, lactose, etc.. for me, all three😂😭)
maybe if your dream is to open a restaurant, do it! afterall its your idea. who knows we all recognize you and be proud of you for all of your dreams? and have that vegan cheese all time boii 😍😏take care beautiful ❤️
I tried the naked chicken chalupa and it was so good! I think they picked that location because they’re headquartered in Irvine as well. Also so surprised jasmine could handle the mild sauce 😂 and Chris “it’s good, nothing wrong with that” while he’s crying from the pepper 😂 thank you guys for always sharing the best content!
I'm one of those people who gets annoyed when people swoon over youtube couples but I have to admit that you guys are adorable. Keep up the great work.
A “Chicago Dog” is about the toppings. Yellow mustard, white onions, sweet pickle relish, dill pickle spear, tomato, sport pepper (super spicy pepper that nearly killed Chris) & celery salt. It’s said you can never put ketchup on your hot dog in Chicago. I’m from Chicago, I have never eaten a “Chicago style” hot dog. I’m all about the ketchup and all about the vegan dog.
Lol ! I’m not good with white clothes and condiments myself, which is why I wear so much dark clothes. Everything looks so good you guys!! Thanks for taking us along
Taco Bell HQ is in Irvine, so that's probably why they get cooler stuff. What was the cost of the vegan chicken chalupa? I would guess the cost could be prohibitive to take it nationwide.
Downtown Salem has a vegan kitchen. Infinity room! Taproot cafe has tons of vegan options. Browns towns lounge has the best vegan burger in town. All three less than a block away! Make a Salem, OR video!
The Taco Bell looks delicious. Should try it with their potatoes, black beans and guacamole. I recently discovered you can do vegan at Taco Bell lol I like that they have a touch screen ordering item in most locations where you can customize your order. I do the crunch wrap, no sour cream, no chess or meat. I do black beans, jalapeños, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole and add the Potatoes if your feeling wild lol so good ☺️
The touch screen is convenient, but you'll typically get charged more than if you order at the counter because you don't have the same options that we do at the cash register Like, at the kiosk, you have to say "no sour cream, add guac" and that adds a charge. Whereas, at the counter we have a button that says "sub sc>>guac" or something like that, which is a free substitution. Same thing with beans and potatoes in place of meats Or at least that's how it was when I worked there. It's been a little while
@@CarolLynnWilliams Before I went to Taco Bell this was a few months ago after seeing how to eat vegan at Taco Bell I did a lot of research first the first thing I did was searched and called Taco Bell asking if it was was vegan and was told yes. Even online it says this Our guacamole is made without dairy and is certified vegan (2) by the American Vegetarian Association (AVA). This was from April when I went there last. Hoping its still the same I always do my search online and call beforehand to double check.
@@CarolLynnWilliams it's vegan. Just be aware of cross-contamination. Taco bell is set up like a conveyer belt for faster food prep. Everything is separated, but sometimes a stray piece of cheese makes its way into the lettuce container or a tomato might fall into cheese, stuff like that. All the utensils for beans, guac, and pico are only for those items, but for the toppings that can be picked up by hand like cheese/lettuce/tomatoes/onions, employees just use the same gloves for everything. 0:07 Chris, it was a great teaser! I always like to see you try vegan fast food options as I know you are enjoying filming these a lot but when you say something was the best...that makes it even more interesting to watch!
I’m so glad places are starting to do this, but enough with testing in remote places like Bakersfield. It’s pretty easy to add a veggie dog option or something like that and it would be nice if I could go eat with people and have an option
Excellent video Jasmine and Chris. Fast food is usually a treat for me because I mainly focus on a vegan WFPB slim on starch diet( I know veganism isn't a diet but a lifestyle ) with occasional processed/junk/fast food. Love 🥰💕 both Jasmine and Chris. Do have Taco bell in the UK but just not in my area it's only KFC and Pizza hut in my area( KFC, Pizza hut and Taco bell are all owned by the same company). I haven't checked out vegan food at KFC but I have had a Pizza from Pizza hut with Violife vegan cheese.
Thanks for the reviews! I live in the Detroit area where we don't have as many fast food options. Del Taco has a couple Beyond Meat options, but they're expensive. You can order the Impossible Whopper at Burger to be vegan. Of course, as you mentioned, Wendy's has baked potatoes. Panda Express does not have a single vegan option here. Even the greens have butter. Re: WienerSchnitzel, a proper Chicago hot dog has to be served on a poppy seed bun. I didn't see poppy seeds on your bun. The hot pepper you can do without, but the poppy seed bun just makes it.
Pickle IS a Wienerschnitzel thing. I believe the thought is that pickle helps digest Wursts, as in liverwurst, bratwurst, etc etc. So the flavor of dawgs (or other meats, like their Polish sausage or pastrami) and pickles together are quite common.

Next time at El Pollo Loco try the Original Pollo Bowl & sub Vegan Chickenless Pollo, add avocado with chips. You can also get the Tostada Salad, sub Vegan Chicken, no dressing, sour cream, or cheese. The pico & salsa set me on fire so I leave those off too. Tasty tasty, IMO. I’ve never tried the burrito but the bowl and the salad are pretty yummy.

This is such awesome information, thank you for sharing. I admit, I hate you guys just a little bit for getting to try the vegan shell option at Taco Bell lmao, I'm so jealous. I didn't know about the vegan chicken option at el pollo loco .. so that's awesome. I'm also excited about Wienerschnitzel, as there's two in the greater Seattle area but neither are in the test bed :(. I did leave a comment on their FB page just now though. I appreciate how candid you both are and I'm also a bit torn. I think that as vegans, we have every right to expect quality food and if we're meek and shy and don't ask for it, it'll never happen. I'm amazed at the junk some companies pass off as vegan and yet it's horrible. At the same time. I think at this stage of the game, we definitely want to be very grateful and enthusiastic when companies even offer vegan options. The whole notion of even being able to get vegan food at fast food places .. as you guys alluded to in your video, it's crazy!!! So yeah, there's a thin line where we want to be ever so appreciative but at the same time hold companies accountable that just because it's vegan doesn't mean it should be crap and vegans will eat it, it should be quality as well.

If you do come back to LA soon. You should try El Cocinero in Van Nuys. It’s a vegan Mexican restaurant that opened up during Covid and everything is delicious. I’ve seen a ton of service workers and nurses come in that aren’t vegan so they something for everyone. The lines are a little long on the weekends but well worth it.
You should try to make Brazilian style hot dogs with vegan hot dogs of course.. We add mashed potatoes, mayo, pico de gallo, corn, shoe string potatoes ( like the crispy fried French onions but the potato version)ketchup and mustard. Of course the buns are much bigger than the ones we have here in the US so that you can fit all the stuff you want in your hot dog 😅. Of course all the toppings are optional but a lot of people like to put everything available at the hot dog stand 😅
Chicago gal here, born and raised. Love a Chicago dog. Mustard, relish, onion, tomato, pickle spear, sport peppers and celery salt and absolute NO ketchup. Watching Chris trying to down the pepper cracked me up. They sure can get you sometimes. 😂
Maybe this is an odd question, Jasmine, but do you remember what eyeshadow you were wearing at the end of the video in the rust jacket? I loved your eye makeup there!
It's funny when you say you wonder how they choose which locations they pick for these trials. This location is super close to where my hubby and I live, and last month they also trialed a plant based ground beef option at our closest taco bell and I swear we were like, is it us?😂😂 is this just a coincidence or do they have a record of all the fresco style blackbean chalupas we order, we feel seen😂
Usually, fast food restaurants choose culturally-diverse areas, and urban communities known for having people new to the US settle there in neighborhoods (for example, "Chinatowns" of LA and NYC), to test new menu items, because they feel it's a better cross-section of the entire population and the cultural differences bring various opinions on taste, texture, ingredients, etc. Vegan items are tested in certain areas because of what research has shown about the area's population. How well the possible new items sell is kind of like a focus group, just not in a room and no one person facilitating.😁 I don't personally work for these restaurants, but this is what I know from having a marketing company and working with people who do.
Taco bell, please please please release the chicken nationwide pleaseeee
