This is the first time Meesha and Faris have collaborated. And, I just love and respect the timing. The whole Shafi family is standing strong here. Meesha's mother has been to many court hearings and has been steadfast in her support for her daughter.
You know there is a reason that for so long very few people knew that Meesha was the daughter of acclaimed actor Saba Hameed or that Faris was the brother of a very successful popular artist like Meesha. They are their own artists and persons. But, when the circumstances asked for it they are right alongside each other. I just respect that.
I am mentioning it all here because background matters, optics matter, attitudes and words matter, and, I just love this track for all of it.
faris shafi is faster then the normal tuned ears, its not easy to catch him which is extraordinary
For me the best part has been the representation of women in our different forms in Coke Studio. From Abidaji, Naseeboji, Eve B, Sheemaji, Momina, Shae Gill, Justin Bibis to Arooj Aftab and Meesha Shafi. It feels like its not been done through or to please a male or western gaze. First time I'm identifying myself with it. I don't know if this was a deliberate decision or not but its delightful

@@azler5289 Was she convicted by any crime? And if so, did she pay her debt to society (by being in a prison or paying a fine)? I guess the answer is no so she's not a criminal because even if you commit a crime and you pay for it, you can't be held "responsible" after paying your debt to society. As for her claim against Zafar, the justice said its word, whatever her claim is true or not, the justice system decided, there's no place for your opinion (or mine, by the way).

Faris says hello in every song, in honor of his grandfather, who raised meesha and faris. This hello is how he would answer the phone whenever anyone called them.
Faris wrote the song first, and did it in a way where his sister could come on board and speak her truth.
Once you open the lyrics and read his rhymes, you'll see he raps in three languages, punjabi, urdu and english, and has a different cadence and flow for each one (he switches them at will too) which is completely insane.

I was waiting for your reaction to this song so much as I always love your honest reactions. In the beginning of this song with that T.V, I too definitely felt hot mango chutni vibes(Abdullah Siddiqui was part of the song production there as well). So, I thought, get ready for some fun, cool, funky stuff. But, THIS! Wow! It just blew my mind really.
I am not into rap usually, but coke studio is making me love it(these cunning mfs). I quite enjoyed Faris's rap tbh. BUT, my queen Meesha Killed it here. She has been under so much pressure by the shit that has been going on legally and so much hate towards her, but she just will not back down. She is fire!

Misha Shafi is at the top of her game knowing how to keep the delicate balance and keep the seamless performance going. Sound recording is out of this world, can hear every heart beat of Misha, production value is hard to match, and the best part is video recording, as if the video has become a part of the music. One thing, which I'm sure you will pick up in the BTS, which I only realised it towards the end that there is no editing in the video, its one whole long shot! Meesha Shafi in Pakistan right now is a symbol of resistance against misogyny and Patriarchy. She has filed a case against Ali Zafar of harrassment at workplace. Till now she has faced such nefarious propaganda against her but she is standing her ground. The reason this song came out from her with such lyrics because of the background of things happening
Oh paleez ... stop the bullshit. Meesha Shafi has been exposed as a complete liar. She has arrest warrants issued for her and her friends who misused the #metoo movement to defame Ali Zafar. If she was that honest she would have stayed in Pakistan and attended court not run away to Canada.

Muaziz Saarif is an Urdu word which means valued customer. There is very little emphasis on the I in Saarif. It's not pronounced Saareef, but Saarif.
