Cake Topper Tutorial | Cricut Design Space

- Craft a Minnie Mouse themed cake topper with me!
Materials:
-White Cardstock (65#)
-Pink Cardstock (65#)
-Gold Glitter Cardstock
-Paper Straw or Treat Stick
-Hot Glue
-Wet Glue
In this tutorial, I use Cricut Design Space to create a layered cake topper.
If you do not have a Cricut machine, I would still suggest to follow along to learn the basic techniques used when creating a layered cake topper.
Gold Glitter Cardstock from www.cutcardstock.com
Pink textured cardstock from Jo-Ann's.
Screen Recording Software: Loom
Printer: Canon Pixma ix6820
Cutting Machine: Cricut Maker

I just started to create cake toppers to sell and I found myself spreading too much modge podge and it came out of the sides … even though it dried clear you could see it a little bit …. And also I wasn’t satisfied with them like I felt they where missing something … I’m so glad I found you!

Yes, they are paper straws. I get mine from party areas of different stores, or, get cute mixes of them from Etsy.

omg..I have my cricut maker 2 years and never know you could change the colour of the canvas.
Do you seal the glitter cardstock so it doesn't ahead onto the cake? If so, what do you use?
No I don't because this glitter does not flake. High quality glitter cardstock will not flake unless you literally go at it with a sharp tool specifically intending to remove the glitter.
What font was did you choose I can’t see it in the drop down ?

Love this video! What kind of card stock is best for cake toppers?
Is there a link for the glue and the little glue bottle
There is not. You can use any liquid glue you find at a craft store. Mine happens to be from Hobby Lobby. But there is nothing special about it. I literally just grapped it because it was on sale at the moment. The little bottle you can find with paper quilling supplies.
what circut machines do you use?
I have an Explore Air 2 and my Maker which is my main one.
I tried to make base layer for the bow but it doesn't work out like yours. I'm not sure what step I missed. Any chance you can help me?
When uploading the bow, you will need to upload it twice. One time is making the top layer, second time is making the base layer. Did you upload it twice?

Hi! may I ask what is the thickness of the cardstock? how many gsm. thanks!
176 gsm works just fine, though 300 gsm can also be used.
Could you use the double sided tape instead of hot glue on the larger pieces?
Yes you can.
@@AdrianasPaperCrafts can you tell me why you don’t? Just trying to learn. My DIL always uses the tape and looks easy.
Everyone has their preferences.
For me, hot glue is just faster, and guarantees my items will stay secure. It's also a cheaper option in my opinion. But there's a huge portion of crafters who just naturally reach for the adhesive tape instead.

I am not able to add a pattern.. when i am clicking on no. 1 after that to give a command of print and cut its not allowing me

On Design Space, search "walt", "disney", or even "mickey" in the font search box. OR, download it yourself by googling "free Walt Disney font".
