Buying and collecting is part of the fun with this hobby, among other art/craft hobbies. And sometimes we downsize. But no one should ever put another down simply because they purchase something that they enjoy. Who cares how much you have, and what you do with your stuff. Hopefully no one came at you for it. I just discovered you through this video and I'm about to enjoy it while I color and put off my chores lol

Great job Emma! It's so hard to get rid of things you once liked and payed money for. Thankfully I'm too much of a completionist to ever hoard colouring books 😂The thought of it beeing physically impossible to theoretically complete all my colouring books would drive me crazy. I feed my inner hoarder with watching other people's bananas collections 😁

Congratulations! I decluttered my coloring books down to 1.33 shelves last year. And even with that "few," when I counted up the number of pages x the anticipated hours to complete each, I have more pages and books than I can color if I live to be 120. I found that reducing the number though has made me feel MORE creative because every book I kept has pages that really excite me.
Yes I have collected more for the art work and my channel than I m ever going to work in for sure 😄
Part of the enjoyment, excitement of any art, is definitely the collecting, I too have many, many books, also a huge stash of pencils, copic markers, gel pens, paints, pens, I will never use them all, but, I do like to open the stuff, especially the pencils, call me weird, I love to touch them, roll them in the tray, ASMR is my excuse for that, I’ve tried to declutter, I end up putting stuff in other places, as long as long as it’s tidy, I use that for a reasoning to keep it all, but, I did make a vow to stop buying, but I admit, it was hell ! Haha perhaps your video might inspire me to try again, but, I don’t hold out much hope… I admire your strength…. ❤️
We all need to do what's best for us.... If you prefer to keep your stuff just keep it 😀

If you want to save space but you like the books, you can scan them before selling. Later on you can print some pages that you would like to color on good paper.

Great video Emma! I did the same but for diamond paintings lol. Only kept the DAC ones & gave away the Ali X ones. And since I learned with diamond painting, I have not gone overboard with coloring books & supplies 😊 All my coloring stuff would fit in 4 milk crates which is more than enough (about 35 books plus supplies). Bananas 😂 I just recently declutterred my hoard of books as well. I donated them and some colouring supplies I no longer use, as well. It felt really good, to pass on books I no longer cared for, that was back in Sept. I have since bought 3-4 new books. 😄☺️ xo

I had to do this once. It was great to get rid of the clutter. I know now not to buy more than one book from an artist until I know for sure I like coloring their art. Being artist focused sure helps too. I won't buy AI art. I love Karlzon's books too, but when you think about it, they are so similar. She does a lot of the same stuff.

I will NEVER get rid of them……but my new favorite coloring book 😅right now are illustrated by Maria Trollle.. They are hard cover and are so beautiful. I am going through my collection also. I know how you feel,I am beginning to get overwhelmed by the amount of books I have collected over the last 3 years. I’ve declutter over 100 so far, and still have around 200 left.

I use inktense or watercolor pencil in my Kirbys. It's much faster and his style of drawing doesn't require much shading because he does so much with the pen.. if you look at his covers they are all just washes of color.

I have been looking at bookcases and storage cubes to hold my colouring and practical art collections since I have nowhere to put loads of them.. You made me think - storage space I have should be more than enough for one person’s books!! I am going to do what you are doing! They’ve served their purpose and I don’t even know what I have got. I have my favourites and ones that everyone seems to have but beyond that it’s a mystery. I’ve got to the point where I’m going to order a book and Amazon tells me I’ve already got it - enough said!! I’m going through a very big period of depression and I think the whole process will be very cathartic for me and I’ll also be better organised and know what I’ve got. So, thank you for filming your purge.
Just one thing, where do you get rid of the books? I am virtually housebound so would need a charity or something to collect them. Selling would be nice but I’m happy just to donate if someone will take them. I live in England so if you do know of anywhere I’d be grateful for a contact. I imagine, if I am ruthless, there will be quite a pile to go.
Yes Hun if you need it to feel better do it for sure.....keep what you like ....as for what to do maybe try a destash group for your local area where people will collect in person that way you could make some money ....or they will sell on eBay if you know someone who will post them out for you.....otherwise you would have to contact a charity to see if they will collect
Is it bananas that I watched at bedtime and then a little bit before work and then the last bit before bedtime again? I really appreciated seeing your process. I do this in my head all the time 'but will you ever color it?' it's really slowed down purchases (but i have the same Mythographic problem. and i'm okay with it) Wonderful video!

And don't be so hard on yourself, my other hobby apart from coloring is boardgames, and there too it's difficult to find an equilibrium between collecting and actually playing (and there too some people like to shame others...). So it's a quite common occurence across several hobbies :)
It costs so much because of the weight it's not worth the shipping price Hun.....and yes lol board games are so fun to own tho aren't they

Am I a monster? I tear/cut the page out before coloring it then put it in a folder when completed. I haven’t seen or heard of anyone else doing this. Am I insane? It seemed very logical to me. I know I’ll never complete a whole book. I can look over my completed pages really easily and it’s nice to color it without it being attached to a whole book.
Your not a monster lol I know plenty of people who do it that way.....we just like what we like

Is there anyway that I could buy the color by number Colorya coloring book from you even though I currently live in the USA? I am asking this question, because the Amazon US website currently is only selling one of Colorya's color by number mandala coloring books and for some reason Amazon US seems to be getting a lot of the Colorya adult coloring books way later than the Amazon France and the Amazon UK websites though.
The postage for me to send it to you is so high it's not worth it for the book Hun.....super expensive
