Gattu ghat village is approximately 12 kilometres from Rishikesh on Neelkanth Temple road. The camps are located next to the Heval River, a shallow tributary. The camps at Gattu Ghat are accessible by road and there is ample parking available close to the camp sites.
There are many famous rafting and camping site in Rishikesh for a range of budgets. At present campsites are not allowed on the banks of the Ganges by NGT. But there are riverside campsites along the tributaries, so you can enjoy the water just a short walk from your tents.

For the kids I would suggest you to stay in a hotel or else I uploaded a vlog of Aloha at the ganges the best place for family is in Rishikesh in the previous video, personally from my experience camping is good for groups or only for couples or you can go for camping in winters with the kids not in summers for better experience
Right now in the month of May June I would suggest you to stay in Aloha
