Best Dane interview EVER. Good on ya, Occy! It helps that Occy is one of the great personalities in the modern surfing era, and maybe the best goofy footer of all time, but surfers seem to open up more to Occy because of how legitimate a surfer Occy is and how candid and sincere he is, and we all get to see a real glimpse of the true Dane Reynolds. Amazing stuff. Wish both Dane and Occy all the best and hope to see more from both of these great surfers in the future!
PS: The Basham's factory/surfshop in San Clemente has a signed personal Channel Islands surfboard of Dane's for sale for $250... after this interview I may just go down and grab it cuz I'm a fan again!!!
Occy has become a really good interviewer without losing any of his natural quirky charm.
This is the most viewed occ-cast of all time. Just goes to show how influential Dane has been in the surf world. Absolute legend.

I met Occy the year of his comeback, and eventual world championship, which is one of the greatest comebacks in sports history. I met him on the HB pier, and the two things i remember were that he was a kind, totally cool guy, humble, etc. and also that he had a hand grip that was insanely strong, (not that he was one of those guys that over shook your hand, Occy is very cool) Tim Hennings

Great stuff Occy. Loved Danes honesty and just the chill factor. Such a breath of fresh air compared to so many of the stodgy people out there. Love to just sit and watch guys like Dane and Machado carve fresh lines on non-traditional surf craft. True watermen!!

loved the john clip--electric. also love mixing in some old footage of occ, and as always, great interview, occ makes everyone comfortable. his little almost not audible comments are so often a riot, like when they were talking about dane's dog's instagram, and at end occ says "i'm following it". or "you should never let the truth interfere with a good story". :) and finally--bless occ for how honest he is, like the j=bay frederico morais 10 comment.
Dane, they took the shoe laces out of you as a security measure. Sometimes people hang themselves with whatever they have, while in jail. The same would happen to me (being a portuguese, i would get busted for sure) if i tryed to get in the States whithout documents... I'm sorry that you have had that bad experience in Portugal, but you're always welcome here, man.

Wasn't there a story how the same thing happened with Occy when he flew from Brasil to the US and had left his passport in the lounge? Then gets to US immigration in LAX and the guy at the desk was a surfer and let him in without his passport??? I reckon I read this in Tracks or ASL.

Dane Reynolds is the better interviewer here. He asked much better questions. I love Occy...but he doesn't ask great questions. I would love to be in his place and ask the questions. But I never won a title.
