@@digimaks Yeah. Technically they could add 7 channels of percussion by using normal instruments in Channel 0-4, but there would be nothing outside of square instruments.
The coolest thing I've discovered about this song when playing the stage is how the record-scratch sound tends to hang a bit after pausing while it's playing.
When I saw metropolis was deconstructed I did’nt think much of it,but after watching this now,for some reason that pitch at 1:29 just sounded hilarious to me.
It's an interesting one, the chord progression is all major chords (C, D, F, C/E), with perhaps an added twist that the F# in the D major chord is C's tritone/"wolf whistle" note. I get the sense maybe of an oppressive, forced cheeriness from it (I have a friend who says this tune is annoyingly reminiscent of American news shows).
@@makeshiftkaz491 it's white noise. (That sound from crts when it's not on a channel). It gives the clap a more full sound, and gives the impression of an open hi hat
Yes! Thank you, were do I even start. THIS is the most metal the Sonic series has every got. Channel 1's baseline slaps and I get chills everytime I hear that "falling scream" sound. The composition alone is great and is one of the best Sonic songs of all time. Also if you play this zone for a while and/or have Super Sonic. Isn't as hard anymore
The main problem for me still lies with the placement of the enemis. Slicers have the worst placement. I still slam into them no matter how much I play the game.
No zone is hard, just take a different approach. Labirynth, Scrap Brain, Sandopolis are one of my favs. Not also considering the fact (in sonic2) that you can easily get all the caos emeralds in emerald hill zone and make the whole game much more easy ^^
TheJp - True, taking a different approach can really make a difference. As for the special stages, I’ve never gotten all the Emeralds in one game, let alone in Emerald Hill. I’ve played the game for like 7 or 8 years and I have only ever been able to obtain 3, maybe 4 max. I actually love Labyrinth Zone. On my channel, I even slogged through 2 acts of the GBA remake before having to stop. I only did so because the emulator bugged out. I later found out I had a bad ROM.
The controls of the mobile version usually work but are really janky sometimes... Metropolis zone and death egg zone do nothing but exacerbate the issue
I clicked super fast on this one, because I figured it would be immensely interesting to see it deconstructed. Was not disappointed : ) Working on this sure was creatively fullfilling; what do you think?
I suppose the scratch sound was meant to give the song a very dynamic, non-stop, mechanical feeling, but it sounds misplaced sometimes. Then suddenly it seems to sound pretty much the way it was designed to, then it sounds misplaced again...mixed feelings, but great song overall - it ends up very deserving of being part of a Sonic soundtrack - for a not so loved zone.

@@Jester-ZX I would guess the work was already done and the dev team didn't want to let it go to waste. But I do agree with you, mostly because this random zone having three acts without being all that special kinda bothers me, but there's a lot of things that can go wrong and lead to delays if even unused code gets ripped out. There's a lot of dummied out stuff for Sonic 2 (including another zone that actually was kinda erased) and the betas have been thoroughly documented.
